  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional...

Im on vacation :(

i have 5 monitors hehe:-P if there is a place where you can select which monitor to use as second monitor i cant find it. thought i'm guessing this would be something no so high on the priority list hehe:-P

but really, i do have 5 monitors on my workstation haha

awesome news about redcine X PRO......off topic quiestion...where is my New Posts link???? it is not there anymore????? it is not in my topleft corner???

I'm pretty sure it was removed to prevent 8000 some REDUSERs from mashing it every ten seconds and using up gobs of the server CPU.

turned it off for now... too much load on the server with everyone searching and refreshing every 2 seconds... :)

Is audio working in this version? I see the waveform but i can't hear it.

I just wanted to say thanks to the developers for creating a piece of software which has grown in power, ability, and UX without becoming bloated and/or slow. Massive thank you all around.

The tool "REDcine" (like any other piece of software) has evolved over time.

First Gen: REDCine
2nd Gen: REDCine-X
3rd Gen: REDCine-X Professional

4th Gen: REDCine-x Professional Ultra Super Deluxe

I'm with Oliver. I hate "Pro" labeled apps. It implies everything before it wasn't. And then after a year it just becomes redundant. The Foundry tried to call Nuke-X "Nuke Pro" and that lasted about 3 hours until they changed it. Then again I have a quote from an IRC conversation where after the name was announced I said "Nuke Pro? How much more generic could they get, well I guess something like NukeX". The 3ds Max team kept naming every new feature _____ Pro as well. It eventually became a point of so much mockery that they created an internal policy to not name any more features pro.... Oh well. :P

And seeing as it's free, it's not like it needs a marketing campaign to sell us on the upgrade. ;)

Yep, machine I'm sitting at just happens to be running the server version. Actually as of Lion there's bugger all difference between server & desktop versions, AFAIK.

Mike

There's never been much of a difference between the Server and Desktop versions other than cost, and additional network services.
