  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional Update... Build 3 Beta.

Ricardo,

The behavior in RCX Pro for Import XML is slightly different than in previous versions. RCX Pro will treat XML sequences as sequences, and bins as bins. ie., you are importing an xml that contains a sequence, and RCX Pro is putting that sequence into your project. Really there is no difference between Active Bin and Timeline when importing an XML. This distinction is more useful when importing an EDL or ALE file.

David

Thank You David for your kind response.
I like to put all the clip in Bin. So I can copy and paste or apply a look at once of the diferent cuts of the same a clip in the time line, so its more efficient. Otherwise I have to go back and forth in the timeline for each cut, which it's very time comsuming. Do I select of ALL clip in the timeline and put them in BIn?. Or how can achive that?.
Thank You for your help.

HOW ??

How can i select MULTIPLE clips and add Meta Data to ALL Clips instead of ONE AT A TIME ?? Trying to add Owner and Copyright info to 389 clips and prefer NOT to do EACH CLIP at a time.....i've tried selecting all clips and going to Metadata, but and a number of other tries...but nothing so far...I can only effect this by choosing ONE clip at a time and going to Metadata on EACH clip and adding there......

THERE MUST BE A WAY TO DO THIS ???

Did i Mention:

JEZUS CHRIST is this FAST LIKE A RACE CAR---sot EPIC 5k and viewing on my Mac Tower with RR card and latest "accelerated" RR Firmware...I load a clip and watch the gray line of the clip run to the right like a race horse....NEVER have i seen that before....Am i missing something ? Is it me ? or is this thing 20% FASTER?????

Johnny, select all of those 389 clips in the bin (or browser, but make sure "Automatically Save RMD Files is on"), then right-click and select "Metadata...". Within the dialog that pops up, search for copyright, then double click on the right-most column to edit it. That will change the copyright for all the selected clips. You can do the same thing to change the owner.

This is a great feature. If I do that and then open that footage in Premiere Pro, does that stay with each clip?

Have no problem with this on XP box with Redcine-X bld 501, viewing both EPIC 5k and R1 4k footage. No RedRocket in either box. Just trying to open monitor on 2nd screen.

Downloaded and installed fine on WinXP Pro 32bit.

Thought some of you might enjoy my little teaser I just cut shot on my Red One in my Deep Red and edited using REDCINE X PRO version 3 and FCP. I can only imagine what the 3D images will be like on our new Deep Atom.

Sorry for some degree of double posting, but it might fit better here than in the Adobe sub-forum:

I can't import XMLs from RCX Pro in Premiere Pro, PPro doesn't find any of the native files. I need the help of Clipfinder 2.5 to make it happen. But after that the sequence settings don't fit and it doesn't display. A round trip through Resolve is fixing the Clipfinder XML, but it's a bit awkward to go from a pre-grading program through a program for final grading into editing.

OTOH, Resolve is complaining that RCX Pro is delivering XML version 3, while Resolve supports only v 4 or 5 and doesn't find the native files either.

Interestingly, it complains as well with an offline version (XML plus ProRes files), but imports that one nevertheless.

Where is the problem here, in RCX Pro or on Adobes side? Would be so great not only to move the first light into PPro, but a rough edit from RCX Pro too. Please don't get me wrong, I really appreciate having RCX Pro, but in a perfect world the three would communicate seamlessly.

Any suggestions?

P. S. XMLs from the release version of RCX are accepted by both programs and the native files are found.

Simple suggestion:

1 - Edit in Pro using ungraded/quick grade files
2 - Export XML in Pro
3 - Import in REdcine for grading

Or... just apply sidecars to files in Redcine before editing.

All this to say, XML export does not seem to work in Redcine.

In general I suggest that anyone having problems with XML import/export pass their XML through Final Cut Pro 6 or 7. Most software seems to be using FCP as the XML compatibility target, as I posted elsewhere.

Based on your postscript though, it appears that the issues on the RCX Pro side of this are getting solved ... is that correct?

Thank you both for your answers. Well, now that Premiere Pro and Resolve are talking to each other, I'd like to leave FCP behind completely.

RCX Pro is great for me as a pre-grading tool. But sometimes one would like to hack a quick rough edit in the evening after a shoot or on set. I'd rather like to move that into PPro instead of having to start from the scratch, that's all. Maybe RED can fix that, RCX Pro is still in beta. XML is not really rocket science…

I finally got a chance to work with RCX Pro. Wow. This is a big step up from RCX.

Are GPUs being used to accelerate the playback? What hardware profiles can help boost performance in RCX Pro? CUDA? Multiple CPUs? Lots of RAM?

I worked 48 hours with it, 1 TB of data to prores. Not 1 bug, not 1 crash... The second monitor is so great, and now you can peak up the white in the screen and use the rocket at the same time. So powerful, even on a macbook pro !!

Thank you very much for the great software.

I am really loving the new RedCineX-Pro interface and tools. This is a major step forward and I can see why The Foundry decided to kill Storm( though it is sad as it would have offered these lovely tools for use with other cameras and was about to have PDF log sheet printing facilities added)

I am seeing a few bugs that are holding me back from being able to use this release on actual productions however (not unexpected in a Beta of course), some of which are reportedly fixed in this Beta 3 release.

I have still had occasions where pasted looks are linked across clips so when I make changes to the pasted look it affects all the other clips with the look pasted onto them.

There are various bugs which seem to cause the play head in the player window to jump around to different positions - mostly associated with the use of the still stores. It also shows the grey buffer bar sometimes with a gap before it starts after the playhead has jumped. Occasional looks aren't updating once pasted until I hit play.

Most importantly the still store just seems very buggy and does not output on the rocket, which is a real issue for me when trying to match grades between shots on my reference monitor. Switching between still store images seems to cause the playhead to jump to the start of the clip sometimes - another frustration when trying to compare specific frames between two clips.

Keep up the good work red team, I hope to see fixes to these soon.
