  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional Build 7 Beta...

Allow Magic Bullet and Colorista 2 Plugins and I'll be in hog heaven

Not really necessary; I'm pretty sure you can apply those in your NLE after working through RCXp. Keep it real; keep it RAW.

Question: If you have a clip loaded up in AE/PPro and then you adjust said clip's metadata in RCXp, does the clip automatically refresh in AE/PPro in (effectively) realtime? In other words, as the RMD file changes will applications that read them also update?

even with my red rocket , premiere isn't problem free , still has the time code bug and other annoying things.

I have either a feature request or a 'where do I find that' question...
In Premier Pro I love the feature of having a 'playback quality' and a 'still/pause quality'

Is there something similar in REDCINE-X? Where I can, for example, play back at 1/4 and on pause / stop have full ?

kudos on this build RED Team, great rocket transcode times. 1080p pro res 4x4, I'm getting almost 2x faster than real time. 4k pro res 4x4 is 2x slower than real time. MUCH better than previous builds.

things i've noticed off the bat

the new alchemy, clarity, saturation, and film look tools don't translate over rocket sdi at all. It will only show up on the gui monitor but not reference monitor.
tangent wave support is a big buggy. it works for a bit, but when I hit the restore defaults button, the wave glitches out and defaults to stock wave controls and I have to restart RCX-P to get it working again.

Deanan's post from RCX Pro build 5 release:
All the post effects happen once the image comes back from rocket to the host.
Clarity and film grain will be the slowest but alchemy should be pretty fast.

We don't have a way to send it back out through rocket and not sure
if that would be viable.

Hope this helps.

Gary,
At the top of the Viewer window/panel there is a drop-down that allows you to set the 'playback quality' from Full to 1/16. You can set it to 1/4 for playback. When you pause/stop you'll manually have to set it to Full. Hope this helps.

7 is really sluggish for me. Didn't have this with 6 - any ideas? Very slow to respond to control changes.

Awesome! Many thanks Armen - I'll give it a shot :)

Please send an email to redcinex at red dot com so we can troubleshoot your sluggish issue.

Reinstall and reboot seems to have helped - I'll email if I can repeat the issue - otherwise figure all is good - thanks!

I tried to export Quicktime on win7/64Bit with v7 64 Bit and nothing happend.
Do I miss something?

Somehow I can't get any Win CS5 usable file out of it.

ProRes Export doesn't seem to be an option on Win cause of the missing rendering codec.

Was anyone able to export quicktimes on a win7 pc?
Or at least another file type that would include audio?

As Premiere does'nt support audio in r3d files yet i need another option to get a possible workflow.
I'm really interested in a Scarlet, but it would be a killer if i can't get Scarlet footage with audio into Win Premiere Pro.
Recording Audio seperatly would be an option. But i can't explain my boss that this highend camera has audio function but it woulld not be possible to work with...

Do you have QuickTime installed on Windows? (it doesn't come with it)

If you do, and you still have export issues, then please send us an email (redcinex at red dot com) so we can try to figure out why it would fail.

CS5.0 supports RED ONE R3D files
CS5.5 supports RED ONE, EPIC & SCARLET R3D files

Thanks,

Also note that if you do not have Quicktime installed already, once installed you will need to reboot your machine before REDCINE-X will find it.

Default quicktime is installed since setting up the new system two weeks ago.
Quicktime export from Premiere is no problem. So RedCine X should also be able to use the codec.

Just to be fair. The problems have been solved with red cineX support.
Thx folks.

For those who want to know how i got it running.
It was a matter of reinstalling Quicktime and to reopen/save all codec settings windows.
