OK, I was able to confirm that the new version of the RCX Pro does save all Post Effects metadata within the RMD created, including the FilmLook grain parameters.

Would like to know if BMD is going to work on being able to interpret this new information contained on the new, more robust RMD, and apply it into their projects.

It cannot be that complicated; we are getting it for free from Red, so I can imagine that BMD would put some of its R&D power to decifer the new RMD parameters information, and apply them to the R3D footage interpretation once it is loaded into a Resolve project.

Any reaction from Mr. Gupta or Peter?

Thanks

An update:

As soon as the new parameters are made available via SDK, BMD is committed to evaluate what new parameters from the metadata can be applied into Resolve. I was able to confirm that the Film Look parameters, including the grain structure, is saved within the RMD, so that information will be available for scrutiny by our friends in BMD.

Thanks for staying on top of this, Luis. It's a very important issue. Redcine-X Pro is a very cool development. I'm sure I will have a lot of fun with it. And find it very useful in many situations.

But I never want to give up my Resolve.

And it's good to have options. If nothing else, to help the finish, the full RMDs would be AMAZING.

That is all well, unless BM already independently works on a grain solution. Personally, if I was BM I wouldn't pursue grain through Film Effects. What about the rest of cameras? Is everyone going to develop their own Film Effects? What about mixed timeline?

Jake,

I see you point, and have mix feelings about it. I own "filmconvert" too, which at this point gives you a good reference point for specific stock emulation. I am alpha testing a version that supports Canon generated footage and, even though it is in its infancy, the results are impressive. I am using it as a reference point, and it is great, but from my point of view, the more options available, the best for us.

It will be great if BMD add to Resolve the capability of working with add-ons, and have either them, or third party partners to offer other options.

MG,

I do not want to give up Resolve at all. Just asking them if an evaluation is part of their plans.
