My company is having a strange issue where all clips at 23.976 from one memory card import into Redcine-x and only show a duration between 1:17:20 and 1:18:04 . We are shooting 5K FF, If I open the clips in Premiere Pro natively, I can see the entire duration of the clips, but if I open the clips in redcine-x I only see up to 1:18:04, regardless of how long the actual clip is. In REDCINE-X however, it seems as though the footage is only picking up the first file at the 4GB break, as I can't even play back a full file, it always stops before 1:18:04. On the exact same card, footage that was shot at 96/60 FPS plays back fine and with it's entire duration.

We were originally having issues with Redcine-X 22.4 incorrectly syncing audio (both internal audio as well as external audio) which again works 100% perfectly in Premiere Pro (both Mac and PC), so I moved up to 23.2 as a way to see if our audio issues was fixed. While the audio sync issues disappeared, now we have the issue of not being able to see our footage in it's entirety.

While it could be possible to work with the native R3Ds in Premiere, we've been using RC-X to make proxies with sync audio from second system and make the workload easier until finishing in Davinci.

Has anyone else had this issue or know of a way to remedy it?

I have had the same problems with RCX all over the place and its horrible.

Your gonna have to try other RCX softwares and pay close attention to your transcodes because it can BURN you and screw everything up for your post as it did for me on my job this past week which was a bad post transcode experience.

The biggest concern is that for this specific shoot, we shot 2 Epic-X's, each with a 256gb Redmag, and we used only one card for each camera for the whole shoot.

Camera A works perfectly fine in every regard, the shots play in RC-X to the full length at every framerate, there is no issue with that whatsoever.

Camera B any shot over 1:18:04 at 23.976 (I'm assuming that is where our 5k FF 8:1 23.976 fps files have the break for 4gb) just acts as though the additional files beyond the first 4gb doesn't exist. In fact, if I manually drag in the second/third file from explorer into the RC-X Playback window, It starts at the initial frame of the first file and still ends at 1:17:00-1:18:00.

I tried disabling GPU Acceleration and Red Rocket Support just to test it out, they don't have any impact. I honestly didn't think they would, but I'm trying everything I can to see if there is a user fix, or if this is something only RED can fix.

I'm still perplexed as to why the clips play back in full in premiere pro, but not RC-X.

Hi guys,

We are aware of this issue and we'll have a fix out soon. It is a RCX beta specific issue, nothing to do with cameras, it's totally random (if you are not shooting HDRx).

Please remember that this is a BETA!! Do NOT use it for any production work!

Mike: please contact redcinex@red.com with details surrounding your sync issue so we can get that resolved in the release branch.
