  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE PRO X 15 release / 16 Beta

Christopher: The metadata you mention, Lens, Focal Distance, and Aperture require the lens to be able to communicate that data to the camera. Not all lenses are able to do this. If the field is blank when viewing the metadata on the clip itself, the burnin will also be blank for that field.

Yes, I know - The correct metadata is visible in the redcine browser and via redline, for example Canon Mount, Aperture F1.2, Focal Length 50mm, etc. However it does burn in when selected for export. You will notice that in the Burn in selection drop down, some items will display an example below the dropdown - |clip name| displays "Some Clip Name", but some do not, like Aperture - the ones that do not show an example, are not burned in on export. The lens data is useful for VFX plates references, etc so it would be nice to have. This is on mac, have not tried windows yet to see if it exhibits the same problem.

Christopher,

I'll definitely take a look into this soon. Would you be able to send in an R3D trim of the clip in question? redcinex at red dot com

Thanks

I have also had the snapshot bug - I go through a whole project exporting snapshots and at the end I check the exports and only a few of them have exported successfully, even though the camera shutter noise etc has been working as normal. If click on 'abort all' then it goes into a cycle. This is new to 15, it has always worked very smoothly until this build.

Feature suggestion:

Checksum Copying. I would be great if in the next build of RedCine-X had a copy feature that would act a little like R3D manager and would great checksum data and copy footage from a mag all in RedCineX.

I seem to have run into a bug with v15 on Mac. If I export a single clip (let's say A001_C005_0418FY) as a quicktime file with "ask for output filename" into a folder called "FOLDER", what I'll actually get is a file called FOLDERA001_C005_0418FY.mov in the folder containing the folder I was trying to export into.

v 15 audio export Bug?

v 15 audio export Bug?

just been trying to export a test file for a job I have tomorrow in London UK. I am unable to export a file with audio in v 15. I opened the same file in v 14 and export had the audio - using the same export preset. Is this a bug in v 15 ?

many thanks

peter

No audio when going from CINE-X v14, to CINE-X v15 (or v16)

Hello --

I may have had the same problem. Under the Export tab, try changing any setting under video or audio, and clicking OK. For example, change the frame rate to something 'wrong' and click OK enough to get you back to where you can Cancel the Export. Repeat, only this time change back to the 'correct' setting and now do the Export. If I got this right, it will get you your audio back. If this does not work, contact RED Support.

Tx,
Serge

Peter,
Can you post and/or email redcinex at red dot com with the duplication for this issue you are experiencing? Can you also include/attach the export preset you are using. We'll be able to better deduce what the issue is you're seeing. Thanks.

thanks I will try this. If it works it would suggest that presets created in earlier version do not work and they must effectively be re-saved in v 15.
Anyway I will give it a go and report back.

thanks

I will do this as soon as I can - got a very hectic few days ahead but I should be able to make time for it at some point.

Some BWF metadata is lost on ALE export

Some BWF metadata is lost on ALE export

When exporting avid MXF+ALE from R3D and Synced BWF files some data fields are lost.

Of particular importance is the "TRK"x metadata fields which usually label mic placement
TRK1-TRK64.

BWF metadata when the BWF is imported directly looks like this:
TRK1 MIX
TRK2 LAV
TRK3 DANCER
TRK4 PLANT

etc.

That information is not passed by RCX to the ALE file, but Scene & Take metadata is passed.

Also, "CIRCLED" and "NOTES" fields are not passed wich would be useful.

Tested with RCX B15 with Symphony6/DS11

Correct, the TRK# fields were removed in build 13 as they where causing Avid MC6 to crash on ALE load.
We are awaiting word from Avid on what to name them from now on.

We'll look into adding Circled and Notes.

In 16 I am no longer able to select "Output with clip file name to selected folder" and it's outputting to the parent folder of the one I select and adding the destination folder I chose to the beginning of the file name.

Tehben,
"Output with clip file name to selected folder" has been changed to "Custom Output". If you select the "Custom Output" option from the drop-down in the export preset window, you can then set you base output folder path (your parent folder) as well as a dynamic output folder path if you choose to. This should work for you. Let us know if it does not. Thanks.
