I don't know if the official recommendation has changed. Personally I haven't had any more problems with 7.4 than I did with 7.3. But there may be stuff I don't know.

Im having the same playback problem with FCS even though the compatibility box in QT is checked. Looks ok when stopped, bad when playing. I use redcine and output prores HQ. Any thoughts?

How does it look just playing in QT after export? FCS is designed to decrease resolution if needed in order to maintain frame rate. It depends on what you have set under the RT drop down on your sequence. If it is set to dynamic, it will change as needed. You can try playing around with those settings.

In quicktime the playback is excellent, but in fcp the image brightens up, as if it changed the gamma. The "FCS compatibility" button is checked, so there's something else going on.

that button unfortunately doesnt allways work

If you have a QuickTime file open in the player and you check and uncheck the button you should see the gamma and saturation change back and forth if it's working. I don't believe you see any change in FCS. It's in the QuickTime player you see the change.

This thread has been very helpfull to resolve my problems ... Working with R3D files that I downloaded I will have found out a lot when my Red arrives.
My monitor was'nt in the right gamma and my quicktime preferences were very different from FCP. Working with JVC GY-HD 201 now I allready have advantage.
