RED World Tour...

I think there's a handful of us on here from Vancouver, Canada, and we've got a pretty decent Red-using film community here for sure (and non-Red-users to convert!)

Another request for Vancouver, Canada
Huge community out here. Let's get converting!

Hey guys, dont wanna be a smartass but as long as you consider going to the Chech Republic and Romania it would be the best solution to make the stop in Hungary - Budapest and leave the other 2 places out and make the event 2 or 3 days. The distance from Romania is about 500-700km, from the Chech is almost the half so they can easily travel here, and any who knows Budapest knows that its one of the nicest cities out there.
Again I dont wanna hurt the feelings for any (Chech and Romania) but strategically its the best solution.

may be can I suggest South Africa, for all of us here in Southern Africa

Please oh please come to Brisbane, Australia. We've spent a few years fighting a weird reticence towards RED products due to some less-than-awesome practices by some of the rental houses. Some official RED presence would go a really long way. We do a lot of event staging as part of our business so happy to help with equipment suppliers & venues here! There are a couple of great screening rooms/theatres at some of the universities that I'm sure would open their doors for something of this nature. Either that or something down at Warner Bros Studios on the Gold Coast.

As Dan suggested, Brisbane or the Warner Studios at the Gold Coast would be a worthwhile stopover. Although there are enough people shooting on Red in the vicinity there is still a strong shift towards Alexa. A visit by the Red team could go a long way to changing that perspective.

As Ted knows, I can give support for Italy. Just let me know. (With Ketch and David, of course) :-)

..home of Lord of The Rngs, The Last Samurei, The Hobbit, Frightners, Heavenly Creatures ...and one day The Toll House ;) New Zealand would love to have Team Red. With the launch of The Hobbit in 2012, it will be a huge oppurtunity to showcase Red Tech to the NZ film industry. OR, just pop over for a cold one, I will put the welcome mat out ;)

You got a good point Hobbit on a 4k projector for the premiere now that just has to be done

You guys should call it Red's "historic global announcement" tour.

Okay Jim, you need to follow up the RED Dragon T-shirts with a 2012 RED World Tour T-Shirts with all the stops and the dates - I'd be first in line for that...

Hee...hee...hee...

:))

You are welcome to Dubai, at your disposal is a 2000 sq ft blue matt floor, with 100KW of lighting, grips, dollies, jib arm and whatever you need.

If you need any help in Germany (locations, translation etc.): after three years of teaching RED at university level plus running the RED classes at Ludwigsburg Film Academy and Nordmedia I feel up to offer any help you ask for.

Have a great time!

I would suggest southern Slovenia.

We recently moved our office in Rome into one of the largest rental house in Italy, if you need help in Rome contact me. Ted and Michael know me well :)

Munich would make sense. The home of moving image and all that.

Jim, if you fly to Shanghai, how about come by Beijing. Visit the Great Wall and Forbbiden City, try the Beijing BBQ Duck.

We can't stop in every city... we only have 3 weeks.

Jim

Jarred, Deanan, Ted, Mike and I are planning a RED World Tour beginning early 2012.

We plan on hitting 15 countries in 3 weeks.

We will make a presentation of EPIC, Scarlet, REDray and the new RED projector.

We would love as many to see this as possible. We could use your help.

If you have suggestions for your country, please comment.

Jim

... if you want to touch the oldest republic in the world ... called the "republic of liberty" aka Rep. of San Marino ....
i would be honored to organize what needs to be done!

... Rimini International Airport (RMI / LIPR ) is about 25 minutes .... 2T will find a spot ... :-))

PS:
It´s a tiny place ... but a pearl in its own right :-)

Depending on the timing I'd suggest you arrive to Berlin during Berlinale festival.
That would not only allow a lot of local attendance - and typically few productions run here WHILE Berlinale is on, so poeple interested in RED products are potentially in Berlin.
Add a lot more international guest to be here as well.
If planned enough ahead, there are surely nice places to go.

We have here at the Kulturbrauerei (very nice historic brewery now being a hot spot for media and events) a big digital theater which surely can be rented for an event, not to talk about the many event sites around it.
Guess I should not mention that we share the same stairway... :-)

But honestly, if Germany early next year, watch out for the Berlinale timing, that'll be perfect.
In our business poeple often can't come because thy are too busy. But Berlinale is such a big event that many plan to go there for a week anyway, to increase the business contacts, take care on their fellows, see the movies, get into the latest buzz etc.

See here the english homepage:

http://www.berlinale.de/en/HomePage.html

The dates are:

Germany, Berlinale, 09th to 19th February 2012.

You can get in contact with them via this website for renting the cinema or surroundings for events like this. They are one of if not the biggest german cinema chain.
The website is in german, but Masha can surely help you...

We had a lot of interest during a "Berlinale Lunch" back then when the our first RED ONE hit germany.

Anyway, whereever you decide to go, let us know in time and we will attend.

Cheers,
Axel

PS: As you are saying you will show the new RED projector - we are just moving to a new facility in Frankfurt these days and have a new grading theater in the works. Can the RED projector drive a 6.5 meter * 2.7 meter screen?

I'll throw in Switzerland - beautiful country, tons of REDs, and as I mentioned to Ted before, I can make an event happen and I'm happy to help. In an earlier life, I used to be a party planner... :)

If Switzerland doesn't happen, my vote for Germany goes to Munich. Really looking forward to see there and / or in France (Paris, right?).
