...sorry for being an arrogant euro-cunt, but still, i think my point is valid. Film-gear is fashion.

I guess we can forgive you. We do sometimes put forth a somewhat "questionable" public image. On the whole, we are a pretty good bunch. :-)

Weapons existed long before America ever did.

Perhaps tuning into that channel will help.

I wish I could find that youtube video of the redneck driving his quadbike with a big american flag flying off it after the second invasion of Iraq, yeeharring his way flattout towards camera firing a big pistol into the sky. From memory I think he nearly shot the flag.

More seriously though, "Weapon" can be a fine marketing tool in tune with the RED PR machine and the brand's loyal developed market. However, I think it will inherently risks locking the new camera out of a fair chunk of motion picture production for no other reason than not being taken seriously.

Alternatively, maybe RED should separately promote the "Weapon" camera platform as a purposed motion picture production kit under another product name.

Yes but nobody ADORES weapons as much as Americans do. It's quite an unique cultural trait.

I beg to differ. Have you seen the Middle East these days? They LOVE 'em.

The world loves to lay its miseries at America's doorstep. Think it's time this thread is closed before it gets ugly.

Seconded

I don't think it's a love affair though, it's just means to an (violent) end.

Americans LOVE guns in a way one loves a piece of artwork or a vintage car.

Guns are cool and wonderful and people obsess about how great they look and what damage they can inflict. (they also name cameras after them).

In other parts of the world weapons are mainly used to kill and maim humans, it's not an object of affection.

That's the difference.

Once again, you're painting "America" with a broad brush that is incorrect. Shouldn't be doing that as it is inaccurate.

My ban hammer was put away this morning, however I'm closing this ridiculous thread.

I'd say more, but oddly I'm more polite and patient than that today.
