Whilst on my recent travels, i came across a Japanese gun that had been turned into a camera during WW2. It's located in the Penang camera museum in Malaysia and is an interesting story. The designers wanted to build a camera into the gun so that any solider could use it and 'shoot straight'.

It certainly is an interesting concept. I wonder if Jim has one of these in his collection?!

WOW! Amazing find! Both this camera (i guess the origins of Konica) and that page itself! All those images made me very nostalgic for my first camera ever -- a humble AGFA Isoly II.

Sorry still laughing that this thread gained so many posts - honestly it could be named "my pink little pony v30000" and if it helped me tell my story more significantly than any other camera on the market then I'm in! Name doesn't matter especially under RED naming conventions - they are pretty standoutish.

Well, following the trend of calling the cinema cameras by female names (Red is not an exception, there's Scarlet!), what about VVinona? J/k.

I would stick with the convention of adjective for the body and noun for the sensor. So I could have an Epic Dragon, or a Scarlet Dragon. It feels a little awkward to say I have a Weapon Dragon.

Interesting observation.

I'll bet we will be calling them Weapon 35 and Weapon 65. Call it a compromise :-) can't you just see the ad in your mind's eye? A double truck image of them on either side of the stitch with bold lettering "Choose Your Weapon"

Well, this is a kind of duel with Arri.

BTW for those who snidely call this an entirely American gun culture thing, dueling is a European thing.

:prrr:

"Choose a weapon from arsenal."

I feel shame just typing that, never mind if I was to say it.

I don't see any WEAPON branding on the body at all. Curious and a relief.

Edit: Actually WEAPON is still on the coin at the front. But that is relatively subtle compared to what was shown before.

I`ll still order the stealth option to get rid of the danger signs, chevrons and "this way up" arrows.

I guess you are loving the chevrons? :)

I actually like the way they have been absolutely clear with all the markings. No mistaking just exactly what kind of screws can be used.

I hope the stealth version is totally black, no names, no arrows, no chevrons, no skulls, nothing. Less is more.
For now it makes me think of these toys sold with stickers to decorate them, like if you have to fill any empty space with something or something is wrong.

I think a lot of them become invisible (in the sense that they will be hidden) once you place the accessories on the camera.

Plus, maybe they just painted up the prototypes because everything is a bit different than what we are used to on EPIC.

Maybe they should just provide stickers. You could put them wherever you want, or just leave them off. lol

I wouldn't provide a stealth version if I were RED. You get a lot of marketing mileage from a photo in AC of Jeff Cronenweth standing next to a camera that says "RED" on it. And I would never want a stealth version myself, b/c my clients are happy to see ""RED DRAGON" emblazoned on the side of my camera. They know they're getting a top-quality camera.

All in all, I hate being a marketing shill. I almost never wear clothes with logos on them. But given RED's "Made in the USA," transparent, customer-centric philosophy, I definitely don't mind doing a little passive marketing for them.

Screw call-outs are not going anywhere. Would love to not need them, but unfortunately you all just love putting the wrong size bolts into holes... it used to be our #1 warranty repair... by a large margin. Since we started using callouts, that reduced that tremendously. Just be happy we don't call out the length as well :)

So that one is because of you... not us.
