  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED Weapon Helium 8k with Speedbooster & Custom mount

I don't think you realize how popular this will be! If you make it they will come.

I'll take a standard and creative, ef mount

Nice James. Sell me one! I'm very interested. We can take the conversation private if you want, PM me

So basically, this will be a Speedbooster with an OLPF lock mount ?
I would get both standard and Creative in each mount please !

Hopefully, the VV mount has the clearance need not to chop our existing mount.

What speedbooster element (image circle, focal length multiplier) is being used? I'm interested, but need that info to pick the mount...

Its a .71 reducer so 48.5mm at 7.5k from a 50mm lens or 45.5mm at 8k. The sweet spot is at 7k as all the normal full frame glass clears this. Some glass clears at 8k and some at 8k WS. Haven't worked out anything other than that yet.

The standard RED PL mount clears the glass fine seeing as it round. The standard red EF mount needed a bit of honing for clearance but would be interesting to see if vista vision mount was good to go out of the box.

Really at this stage I would be looking at supplying a element/filter caddy ready to accept an off the shelf reducer. Customer would already need a donor OLPF (olpf pops off the end from the plastic surround), a focal reducer from metabones the x.71 is the base of what I have been using as described before when it was installed in the the Epic Dragon body. So really the only thing needed to be produced is the element/filter caddy.

Maybe a bulk order at Metabones once things are locked down and prototypes tested by a few people could be placed.

Easy... ;)

James lets do it! You will sell a ton!

James before you dive in check with RED. They like and need to be in the loop for obvious reasons....

Absolutely, if there was any problems with the guys then I would stop. But need to get to a safe working personal prototype before getting too deep in. Can't see too many problems as long as nothing is being taken apart or modified with risk to the camera or operation. Thank you though.
