  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Weapon CF Forged powering down spontaneously

Thanks again to everyone for their advice. I purchased 6 new Red Bricks and have been using them for the last couple weeks. At first the difference was amazing. The camera worked so much better with the new batteries. But over the last couple days and after multiple system wipes and firmware boots the camera is starting to act up again. Here are the symptoms:

Latency and lagging across the board - Audio meters stalling, Time code pausing then catches up, the magnify toggle command shuts off both the evf and lcd, the overall OS is painfully slow.

Occassionally I lose my HDSDI output and I have to either reboot the camera or disable the output in the menu and then enable it again.

Audio control is all over the place - frequently I am unable to set the pre-amp levels, and there is a high pitch hiss in most of the footage (working with a pro audio person).

Any one else?
 
How about non stop recording when on and won't power off properly anyone having that issue? Just wondering..
 
Just a quick update: I sent my CF Forged Weapon and my v-lock i/o module to Red for inspection 2 weeks ago. Technical support said they found the root of the problem in the v-lock I/o module; the camera tested fine. After my camera and module were retuned I powered it up and the issues had disappeared, however, an hour into the shooting ALL the original problems came back:

Time Code readout sticking
dropped frames in 4.7" LCD
Magnify toggle feature shutting off both screens and taking 5-6 seconds to punch in
Audio meters all over the place
overall OS painfully slow

I've updated the firmware, rediscovered hardware, performed system resets, wiped the camera, upgraded to ALL red accessories (no 3rd party hardware), I've tried everything.

Ive pleaded with the support team to let me replace my I/o module but they said it was past the point at which returns were allowed.... It's 2 months old, what the?

AC's on set are asking me why my camera is so slow. I used an epic dragon while my weapon was in the shop and the OS was extremely fast, responsive AND the fan was quieter!

I've spent over $75g's with Red this summer only to have a louder, slower camera. Please, PLEASE, someone help!

You need to send it back to red, open anther ticket
 
My magnesium was doing this even on AC power on the latest build, I rolled back one and no issues
 
Hope it gets better man. I heard way too many issues about the new system especially with 3rd party stuff to keep me from making a big investment in the new system. Especially when the old dragon works like a charm.
