  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red User Pro Bono / Charity Work Forum

I don't envy you Detlev. Spine injury is life changing. I was somewhat clueless of the problems people endure. It's an example of why we can make a difference. Hope you are doing well now.

... its very complex. the static and balance in the body, numbness and pain, has tons of implications in ordinary life (=is not) ... it can freeze the mind.

On the bright side, one can learn how to control and use ones mind a little better ... and let go of pain ....

but back on topic, ...

I guess, there are many, many causes and organizations out there ... that need to be brought together ...
thats what got me fired up today ... i had it on my mind for a long time ... it just needed a little ignition ... hehe

... seeing the response to Joshs "call for action" and willingness to contribute in this thread, is plain awesomeness in gold .... (!) .... :-)

let´s get this going !
i am really excited .... :-)

Anyone care to give some guidance as to the time/cost traps and challenges associated with pro bono film work? Please include your solutions and ideas for best practices.

Thanks in advance!

Josh,

Great idea.

I have been doing work like this for several years, first with a Sony Z1, and later with my Red One.
Working with individuals, bands and university students.

I don't know what is in your area (San Diego), but here in the UK we have websites such as talentcircle.co.uk and ShootingPeople which are used for low/no budget jobs.

Hey Josh! I started a non-profit that does just this. Originally inspired by just my own desire to give back. I will reach Outto you on PM. Maybe we can combine forces. We already are a 501c3, and so if members donate their time and services, it can be tracked, attributed with a value, and they can get it back as a donation. Win win. I will hit you up on PM.

Thank you Anthony and Randall. Looking forward to any help and advice

hi there,

time is always precious and so many things one believes to be important can't already be accomplished nowadays. Everybody seems to be so busy, myself included.

But what should always be possible is to free some time. A few days maybe.
Count me in for set work and post supervision, Germany and Switzerland. Travel wouldn't eat up too much time then, I believe efficiency is important on Pro Bono. We still all need to pay our rents.

Additionally I may offer RED 'rental', post facility access in both countries and delivery to TV stations internationally. The latter most likely for free, the former cheap - free, depending on the needs.
That said, I don't own all theses businesses, some decision makers have to be supportive as well.
If interest arises, don't PM, I'm not reading here too often.
mail rocco@focusmachina.com

Besides, if we are talking about who wants to or is able to do what, anybody here who can supply/script a thing like plazes or thelike which shows a potential initiator where a service (or willingness) may be gotten ?
I mean a map, to lay out where talents are.

And then use this forum to meet up, talk, concentrate, outline on specific themes ?
(instead of so many people saying 'yeah, me too' - and an initiator doesn't find an appropriate skillset....)
Just my '02.

mind = blown

Wow, what a generous and thoughtful offer. Let's keep this thread alive to see if we can grow a format that connects resources to needs.
