I am afraid that i have to return my 1 day old Scarlet... LCD stutters like hell.

Not in recording / hdmi / sdi, only via the LCD. Every timebase/fps/shutter setting EXCEPT 30fps varispeed, that's the only one that's smooth.

Anyone ever heard of this?
Btw. reinstalled firmware and tried every possible setting.

Martin

If it's recording fine, it's probably the LCD, not the camera.

Oh, i sincerely do hope so! It will really hurt, sending my new baby back to it's maker after just a few days... ;-)
I'll try to find another LCD in the Netherlands i can test with my brain.

Still, anyone else ever experienced this stutter/lagging ?

Thanks,

Martin

This happened to me the first time I plugged her in. I got really nervous but then I did the 1:1 zoom in and back out and all was good. Maybe try that quick?

Had this after black shading once. Shut down, pull and plug again the LCD cable, power up and it was gone. Or try to reinstall the firmware.

I've tried all the tricks you've suggested, but to no avail. Bummer... I'm almost confident that the Red Touch is causing the problem since all other outputs including recording to SSD look perfectly OK.
I also found an article here on reduser.net with two people having this "refresh rate" problem with the Bomb EVF.

I hope Red has build-in a total reset or programming mode for the Red Touch LCD, so i don't have to send it in for repair or replacement.

I've planned a music video shoot next monday. I can use an external monitor, no problem, but will have no way of controlling the menus.

Martin.

sidehandle attached?

I have this on my Epic and my Scarlet. I suspect it's the firmware build. two different LCD screens.

Were you informed by Red how to proceed now? I do wonder though, why people with the same firmware build do not seem to experience this problem. There is another Scarlet owner in this country who can let me test an LCD, but that is quite a long drive; but a way to cancel out the LCD or brain. Considering your case - having two LCDs with that problem - you'd think it's the brain after all.
Sigh... I'm hoping to hear something from Red tomorrow.

Martin,

You might want to make this video "unlisted" or "private" so that it does not become a source of FUD. (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt)

Often videos like this can lead people to believe that this is a widespread problem, and I can assure you that it is not normal for your LCD to be doing that.

I made a video demonstrating an example of strong Redmote range, but I made it private to respect those that are genuinely having range issues.

Hope this issue gets worked out for your Martin. It must be extremely frustrating.

I understand and share your concern, but the unlisted option is grayed-out on YouTube.
I'll put a password on it later today.

I have the same problem with my scarlet but haven't been home to troubleshoot it enough. The problem seems to disappear if you lower the brightness of the screen but its hardly a good solution.

Hi,
I'm experiencing the same problem.
30fps smooth playback, but 24 and 25 have issues and stutter via the LCD. Did you return your LCD, did you find a solution or is it firmware related? Thanks

is this a LCD problem? looks like a shutter problem...you do not see the items flickering on screen. just in the picture...or...
are the files corrupt? can you still see this in your NLE?
hope they get it fixed if there is a problem at all ;)

It looks a lot like every second a frame is dropped. The files itself are fine.

I have the same look of 24fps on my touch, but I thought it is normal, cuz on EX1 for example i got the same stuttered look if shooting 24p
