Red tether problem

I'm here at a shoot where we planned a really long shoot in a single take using Red Tether with a Red Scarlet Dragon. I've tried everything according to the manual and updated everything to the latest version and firmware. However the camera isn't connecting to the network on a macbook pro, only the default ip. After that I tried the manual, red tether was able to recognise the camera (after i entered the ip manually) but when i hit preview or record i get the message the server isn't connected.

Any steps I can take from here? getting a bit desperate as I need to start shooting soon

Did you try tether in REDCINE-X instead of RED Tether app ?
Are you using a gigabit ethernet adapter (thunderbolt) on you macbook pro ?

Ive tried both redcine and tether. Using gigabit connector over thunderbolt. Finally we tried a PC laptop and it worked using a fixed ip. But ideally it should work on the Mac
