I have had several complaints from sound recordists that the Input Levels are very difficult to position at the exact desired level, since the touch screen is rather inaccurate. Would a + and - button help? What other options could we have in order to exactly move the input levels, bit by bit?

I generally adjust the output going from my recorder to the camera, and just get the meters set that way, assuming they start off at a nominal setting. My method uses a wireless camera hop going to a Lectro SRa receiver, and then we just bump the receiver's output up or down until the camera is happy.

I Know we can dial the exact number, which is kind of like a guessing game. I'm asking for an alternative way to move the lever with the finger in a more precise way.

Again, I adjust my sound equipment to match the camera. To me, this is not a critical function for the camera, as long as the essential sound coming in is not distorted and sounds reasonable. But I only advise people to use camera sound for reference only.

If you have a DSMC side handle use the scroll wheel its very useful when in the adjustment of levels menu. Give it a shot.

if it works with the scroll wheel on the side handle it should also work with the scroll wheel on the red mote (basically) - didn't test it but give it a try, I'm pretty sure this is working... I'm usually fine and fast enough with typing in a number. But I must admit I do "pre-leveling" as soon as possible on location or even in the Studio before heading out to the shoot - so usually I'm already in a good range and only have to compensate like +/- 4db.
