  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED Store Scarlet Subscription

Reading a press release stating that "On November 3rd at 6pm PST, details surrounding our third camera SCARLET will be announced..." hints to me that there will only be one camera and not multiple versions. Would you guys agree?

Where did you see this press release? It's interesting and this singular form of the word Scarlet has been noted a couple times over the last couple months in Red posts, but I won't jump to any conclusions until we hear all on Nov. 3.

First thing that comes up right now.

I need S35 for what my clients want, so im praying that RED makes a S35 Camera that I can afford. I have about 15K to spend. I may need to go to Canon as much as it pains me to say it, If they are both around 7K then im getting both.

Perhaps what you are needing is an EPIC or RED One? Neither of which can you properly get set up for under $15K...let alone 7.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm surprised to see how many people expect the Scarlet to be an S35 sensor camera...

Joseph, Im not expecting, just hoping/praying. There is a difference. I really dont think the F3 Should be 20K (with a ProRes recorder). So im hoping for a 15K option so I can buy more Glass. Does not seem unreasonable to me, and 7K is unrealistic I realize that.

Yes, I see the difference, Kyle. I thought about that right after I posted. It still seems like there are several others though (even without you being one) who seem to be hoping for so much more than what might be reasonable.

Remember that the F3 is a video camera which can shoot a maximum of 30fps at 1080p in an MPEG-2 format. Even the original specs (1-120fps of 3K RAW) on the Scarlet vastly outperform the F3...and I expect RED to go above and beyond those.

I agree with you Joseph, and I know a lot of this is just repeating from the expectations thread but when Jim dubbed that this was the New Scarlet and that it would be much improved, etc. Everyone immediately started assuming this had to be an upgrade in resolution or sensor size (for the same or lower price), but I'm surprised not as many people were predicting that these big changes could be a number of new features added and improved picture quality/specs such as fps... It seems that Red is constantly engineering groundbreaking things behind closed doors such as HDRX and their new Focus in Post development, who knows what they could have up their sleeve for the Scarlet. 7 Days and it can all be cleared though... for now at least ;)
 
Don't you love it when the lights start to dim and the curtain begins to draw back...

We're excited now.

November 3rd is going to be absolutely mental.
