  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED STATION

Base Module provides power to the entire stack so you dont need to have power cords going to each module for E-SATA operation.

2.5" RED MAG accepts bare 2.5" SSD and Spinning hard drives for offloading.

You can mix and match up to 3 modules per base station.

Will these be the drives we will be using with the SSD Module? will we have to use RED SSD drives?

So you don't really need the Base Station then? What was the reason behind you guys deciding on Internal Sata Connections as a Power Loop through? Seems a little odd, or confusing to some.

Very nice addition to the Red Family!

i think the point of the base station is if you want to connect multiple modules to your comp at one time and have limited ports

The Base station doesn't help that problem though. It seems to only be power related.

Or are there 6 Missing e-sata ports that should be on the Base Station we don't see yet? You guys at Red know what I'm talking about.

I think you plug in one (what looks like) 5v power adapter to the base, then you only need to daisy chain the other modules from the base station. It's just distro. Otherwise each individual module needs it's own power adapter (hence the 5v DC in on each module). Is this correct Jarred?

Edit: If my assumptions are right, is there a RED proprietary cable for these power ports? (on the first pic it looks like there is some nice cable with braided shielding)

I'm also guessing since there are two FW800 ports you can daisy chain those as well?

correct... and the power link cables come with the devices, they are not proprietary but normal Sata Power cables. We just made custom versions of them ( braided black :) )

Wow! Looks awesome!

I'm a little confused, what does the CF one do that the Lexar FW800 doesnt do (besides obviously a few extra ports)?

EDIT: is a module coming that'd allow the CF to be dumped straight to a consumer hdd without use of a computer?

E-sata for one.. our cards now read faster than a standard firewire 800 port so E-Sata opens the door to some higher read/write speeds.

Jarrad will there ever be a time with RED where we can just plug our Reds via esata directly into our laptops or larger array of storage (solid state I am thinking).

nice one,, i want it

Will this help with offloading the existing RED DRIVEs at all? via Lemo to eSATA, maybe?

:drool5:

I LOVE elegant cable management!

... and super shallow DOF. Dizamn.
