  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Scarlet X #316 "Skully"

Actual way this went down:
"Hey, Phil. Ya know the thing? Yeah? Well, what would you say if I told you it's ready?"
"So, a, where's this going down?"
"You gotta come over here, but don't tell no one."
"I'll be right over"
"Yeah?"
...

Must be nice to zip on over to Red.

heh heh heh.. close :)

Very close :) i'm pretty sure I ate a sandwich in the shower and put my clothes on while wet before I darted into my truck. I'm just happy I didn't forget pants.

For those curious, here's a wide shot of the Red Lobby decorated for the holidays:

I worked on one of those features :)

A couple guys there have some goofy photos of me making out with the camera. I'm sure those will pop up soon.

Just a crazy question, but because you picked yours up, did you get dinged with CA taxes? And as I have appreciated your many comments here on reduser, any insight on what you will put on this as far as lenses and support/battery etc? Helpful to know for those of us just starting to gear up for our own Scarlet.

I think this is the question everyone is wanting to ask........

Are those chairs comfy?

Congrats Phil - Ally Canon scarlets in the Wild!
-and can "Mulder" be far behind...?
I want to believe.
:wink5:

Cheers Kevin. I payed CA taxes and yes they felt like a punch to the gut. That's price you pay to dance in LA.

I have 42 lenses that I'll be using on Scarlet. 27 of those will be used a whole bunch. Mostly primes ranging from 14mm-600mm, but I have 3 zooms as well. Lots of Canon and then a few Sigma, Leica, Nikon, and Olympus. I also have an Iscorama 50mm f/2.8 1.5x Anamorphic and Canon/Panavision modified 100mm f/2 2x Anamorphic lens I'll be "playing" with.

For batteries I will be using RedVolts in the DSMC Side Handle (ordered 4 and the DSMC Side Handle is on back order until early January) as well as V-Mount batteries via Wooden Camera's new Quick Back system (love that design). My plan is to always have RedVolts and V-Mounts on the camera for most situations. Go down to RedVolts only when flying on Steadicam or looking to shoot handheld. In that light weight setup I'll be capping the back end of Scarlet with the Back Cap from Atomic 13, from David Webber, who randomly was also at Red today picking up a RedMote.

Are those chairs comfy?

They are very comfy. I was thinking about trying to fit one in the box that Scarlet came in and bring one home with me :)
