  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I thought I would make a thread just for Red Scarlet-W. For all the people who didn't switch and are still awaiting allocations. I thought it would be a great place to post anything Scarlet-W related. Any videos, allocations or any questions can be posted.

I like it. I decided it didn't make business sense (right now) to switch.

It feels kinda funny because I refreshed RedUser all day and read all the excitement and was caught up in the anticipation of it all.
Dealers posting photos of there large haul of Epics in stock. People posting photos of their new Epics with promises of R3Ds to download and I'm so happy for them. I was so excited for everyone.

But now the dust has cleared and I'm here. In Dallas. By myself. Just waiting and not knowing when my Scarlet will arrive.

Admittedly I was hoping the frenzy would have freed up a ton of Scarlet places in line and I'd get a call that I was bumped up and would get mine this week. No call came. :(
It's my fault for wanting it so badly. The problem is I just want it so badly.
 
I started a Spreadsheet for Scarlet W Queue to see where the Queue is at, if you put a deposit down on a scarlet-W and plan on upgrading to the Epic-W do not add your info to this list. It is open to editing for anybody who wants to add their name and info to the list. Please respect the list.

If you have received your Scarlet-W Please add your information so we can see that information as well to get a better idea where the queue is at

It's actually quite a handy thread, it's not just for allocations. You can post scarlet-w videos ask any questions about workflow or aks. When people start getting allocated it will then become helpful if people post in here when allocated...there isn't another thread just for scarlet-w stuff just a massive mixed thread of all cameras etc. Even the scarlet-w group on Facebook has now become an epic-w one!
 
Well I for one will be blowing the thread up with photos and R3Ds when mine comes in. I'm anxious, not only to shoot with it, but to see footage from you guys too!
 
Nice idea Craig. Maybe add some links in your first post to other Scarlet-W-specific threads, video's, info etc. (eg. http://www.red.com/products/scarlet-w)? There might not be much to add at first as most Scarlet-W users wait to get their camera's, but it could become a useful stopping off point for future searchers and sharers of Scarlet-W info and output.
 
Anybody else who wants me to add any scarlet-w useful links to the thread let me know. Feel free to share anything you want all things Scarlet-W

Hey Adam, I was exactly the same as you! i thinks its great that Red have given people this upgrade option and given them an opportunity to get into the 8K cameras. But for some people they actually cannot afford just to put down another 10k or don't see the need in putting the 10k down. I managed to post something to the upgrade path group about any scarlet-w cameras being posted out this month. Brent did reply and he said "No, not until the dust settles" a little bit disheartening after waiting since December 2015 for a camera and not being able to put that 10k down to upgrade. Hopefully we will all receive our scarlet-w's soon and they start pumping them back out asap.

Ahh man that sucks but I'm really happy for the guys that upgraded. I toyed with the idea but 8K is overkill for what I shoot. Not to mention the significant cost to upgrade computers and storage just to handle those massive files.
I'm happy with my choice to stick with Scarlet-W.
So I wonder how long it will take for the dust to settle. I think the not knowing is what's unsettling. I ordered though a dealer last month and the wait is already killing me. I can't even imagine what you guys are going through and what you've been through already.

Yeah for what I shoot aswell I don't need 8k footage plus I don't have the funds to pay for extra space needed to store the files. Yeah man it's been tough been waiting for nearly a year now isn't the best ahah! I'm still hopeful though.
 
This thread was a great idea! Thanks Craig! I also like the Facebook Group and the Instagram which lets me remember every day how great it
would be if mister postman would come with that delivery. If it is there some day I´m honord to take place in the discussions about how to get the best picture out of it.
Sinds I upgraded from the Raven to the SW I think it would take a while. But maybe we are lucky and the list splits in half because of the Epic-W.
We will hope and see.
