  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Rushes

Question: When people are using REDRushes, are you doing "FULL" under Debayer Quality?

REDRushes seems perfect for some of the lower end corporate stuff we plan to do. Besides audio, I would also love the ability to add a "preset" look similar to the L&T setting. Is this possible? I can imagine that for some things, we would love to just add a nice preset s-curve, raised saturation levels and render out into HD...then just do color correction in FCP.

Any plan for this? Let me know if I'm missing something...

You have a choice beter 1/4, 1/2 or full debayer. It will use a look you created in REDALERT to render the media.

Why don't you download it and install it to see how incredibly useful it is.

Not sure why you don't think I haven't. :-) I've been playing with it, but I still have those same questions. Our camera is due to ship this week, so I only have a few downloaded files to really test the quality out on.

I know you can use the R3x or whatever it is called from REDAlert, but what if you use REDRushes to bypass RA or RC. That's what I'm thinking. If it has a simple preset, like I mentioned above, that would crush blacks, put an s-curve on it, and push the saturation...there are many quick jobs I would just take the footage directly into REDRushes and export it to HD...and start editing. This is with audio, of course.

Processed over 200 clips to ProRes this weekend on two separate machines with no errors (except known ones caused by cropping and stretching on 3k and 2k footage). Footage was shot 2:1 4k at 24fps with anamorphic lenses. Used REDrushes to crop and unsqueeze footage to correct aspect ratio for offline edit. Looks and works great.

Any plans to add the 'inset with black bars' idea for the release version? The idea to inset a stretched/cropped image (or anything other than 16:9 really) into a standard frame size by adding black bars on top and bottom. For example a 2:1 shot could be inset into a 1280X720 or 1920X1080 with black bars on top and bottom. I'd need it to work after stretching to unsqueeze the anamorphic footage.

Or am I missing something here? My Kona 3 won't play back a 1280X544 timeline correctly to a monitor. How are people playing back their 2:1 footage after running it through REDrushes?

Having similar problem to other users. RedRushes hangs when I hit 'start'.
Also will not do anything when I hit 'Make Proxy/Eighth (P)'.

Red2Ale has also stopped working for me. Does nothing anymore. Used to work fine.

Red2Wrappers is the only useful software I have got going for me now.

Finding out now what build camera was used.

I know the r3d files have sound on them, could this be the problem ?
 
We're working on a new relese to fix some os specific bugs.

Also, make sure your path to the input and output directories does not contain strange characters like "(".

Check the output directory for your QT files. There is a bug in the current directory where the wrappers don't get saved to the source directory when that's chosen.
 
ahhhh k, cool.

No I had 'Output Folder' checked. No weird characters.
 
Hey guys
if i have 1 mag containing 30 clip in it
is there is a way to have color correct in Red Alert getting on *.RSX file
and in one step process apply it to other 29 clips
So i can use one rsx file to aplly the look to the other 29 files in REDRUSHES?
