  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Related Company Database

Very cool Dave, this is an excellent resource tool and is exactly what i had in mind! just a suggestion that you could include some post facility's possibly sub categorized under region maybe or i guess this could be general ? You should post this as an Individual thread so as jarred can sticky

flolight doesnt really have anything to do with RED specific.. we should probably keep it tied to just stuff made for use with RED.

You may want to consider renaming the "Steadicam" category to something else - like "Camera stabilization" as "Steadicam" is a registered trademark of Tiffen and relates to their product(s).

Thanks for that Khristian,

Yeah....Localised Red post houses, Red production companies, hire etc would be a magnifient resource to list/have.
Just not sure where you'd list it or whether you'd actually get universal buy-in?...maybe the local user group area.

sorry you're right getting a bit carried away as i tend to do

Hey David - We're working on a site now that incorporates all of the resources you have mentioned, plus much more... It'll be a free resource that grows with the red community and we'll also include any red specific prod companies and owners worldwide, all listed in a well-organized structure.

An example, - we tried to get our product line (Monstercine) reviewed by Finner, but he chose not to because he's only reviewing products he uses on his kit and apparently he doesn't use our tools.

The site is a non-brand biased site that's open for contribution by all red professionals and anybody with a well conceived review is welcome to participate.

We'll announce the address very soon...

It's been posted elsewhere, but the Switronix GPTS V-Mount Hot Swap Adapter for hot swapping Red brick batteries.

available at B&H and Batteries4Broadcast (well, currently backordered):

The Visual Products BNCR Mount for Red should be available in less than a month:

http://visualproducts.com/storeProductDetail03.asp?productID=1166&Cat=8&Cat2=18&Cat3=26

Visual Products can also have good PL mount lenses from time to time. I look at them like the KEH for motion picture equipment.

Tango Head Blue Handles are available at http://www.isaia.com/ in the U.S. along with Ronford Baker products.

Pancro IRND Filters available at http://www.pancro.com

Here is the new list...over 2 posts to get round the post count limit. Happy to update....Dave

Hello Khristian,
My name is Juan Elgueta, from Chile, and I just recieved my red one camera serial number 4086. Basically I´m writing to you cause I need your advice regarding the search for :
A tripode
Prime lenses.
Mattebox
focus puller
filters
Portection bag for the camera
With the camera I bought a 50 -150 mm red lens and the 300 mm lens plus all the accesories needed to assemble the camera.
I´m planning to go to California in about two more weeks and I´m looking for the best places to find this products. Can you tell me which are my best options for stores.
Also regarding prime lenses I´m thinking on getting one red cooke lens , a wide lens, but maybe for the same money I can get three used lenses. But I´m worry about if the images I´m going to get qith the used lenses will match with the ones I´ll get with the red lenses that I already have. So please if you can give me a hand it will be great for me. Whe have a post production company in Chile (www.imaginachile.com) and we are very excited to start working with red and smoke. We have done a great effort to make this posible so any tip you can give me would be great.
Finally , I have contacted some production companies near L.A. to see if there is a chance to go and talk with people that has been working with red. And in this line for me it would be incredible if you could give me a little time to talk to you , either by phone or personally , during my trip.
Thanks in advance,

Juan Elgueta.
