  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Raven Green Pixels in Footage

I've had a few intermittent glitches on Raven as well. On a studio shoot today, the 4.7" LCD turned bright green and white on playback and the camera locked up at one point (black screen). Not a totally stable camera in the current build, though I haven't seen any issues in recorded footage and have blackshaded without issue.

Often when you see bright green or red it has something to do with the LCD/EVF cable or connection.

Just an update on my ticket... It turns out that there was a problem with the boards in my camera. "They were not performing well". I got the camera yesterday did a brief test and it seems like they fixed it. I even performed a new black shade with no issues at all. I hope i dont encounter anything else, Fingers crossed. While the customer service by red is REALLY GREAT, I hope your camera could just get fixed by the firmware update. It sucsk having your camera down. Best of luck to you guys!

My fingers are crossed. My tech told me that it looks to be firmware for me as the log showed no signs of hardware issues and since the factory and older version of firmware works fines I should be ok till the new firmware gets released.

Yeah it's odd that it would show up after a blackshade but not be present during factory settings. If it was a bad board, wouldn't it be throughout all settings? I can't wait to get my hands on the update so I can properly blackshade and deal with the noise I'm getting.

They gave me an RMA to send my camera in, even though my LOGs were clean. I really can't afford to part with the Raven, even for a few days, because I have so many gigs. The only loaner camera they offered me was a Scarlet MX, which is okay, but all my accessories are DSMC2. I really wish they'd surprise with a firmware update this week.

I'm having the same issue on my Raven. I just powered up the camera for the first time tonight and performed a black shade. Upon completion of the black shade I have extreme artifacts on the right side of the screen. If I set the camera back to factory black shade the artifacts are gone.

I updated firmware 3 weeks ago and blackshaded- no problem, or so I thought. I had been in 4K WS. Yesterday on a feature that I'm shooting (4.5K no crop) we noticed some odd pixels in the upper right hand screen- checked playback and they were there. Blackshaded immediately and 98% were gone. Saw a few errant glitchez pop up the rest of the day but since we are shooting for a slight crop later we pressed on. I didn't think to roll back to the factory blackshade, I had just started to re-read the threads about this when I was called back to set. My issues were nowhere as bad as some of those posted here but they were in the same place. Calling Red on Monday. My issue seemed to appear after one of those odd "split screen" glitches that show up bouncing between playback and record modes.

Sorry to hear that. Please Keep us informed. Yor "fishbowl" is the best raven footage i see for now. Regards

Thank you- the feature version of fishbowl is filming now. I'm sending in a technical support ticket and reverting.

I should mention that after a second blackshade on set the green pixels were reduced to 2 or 3 pixels way to the far right edge. The director and I agreed to press on and deal with it in post. A +1% scale should clean it up.

Hi everyone, I just rented the RED Raven for my first time and saw the dancing green pixels in my footage. I now see what to do for future reference but is there anything that can be done for the footage already captured?
Thanks!

Going to give it a try. The camera has been fine using the OE blackshade.
