  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED PRO Mattebox

Jarred that picture is way too beautiful
I am sorry
but Its a no go for me..:rolleyes::biggrin5::laugh::smilewinkgrin:

No worries Greg.. I guess you missed the rotatable tray option.. 20 pages its easy to miss.

Which is why it's important to post details on new products on RED.com instead of running the risk of them getting buried in long threads :-) That way it's also easier to update specs as they change.

Since this product is no longer "in development" but soon to be released maybe we could get you guys to set up a PDF or a page with current and future options?

But don't get me wrong - I love getting the inside scoop from REDUser :-)

and for the rest of you.. if you decide to put a streak filter in our mattebox.. no matter how clever or creative you think you are being... your warranty is void.

heh heh heh.

I was in a Wells Fargo bank lobby yesterday and there was a huge sign on the wall that read:

We have one very powerful business rule. It is concentrated in one word:courtesy
Henry Wells 1864

When I read that I thought of a couple ways to respond, so I listed them below.

1. If I did make those kinds of films you can bet that they would have amazing production values.

2. I don't think I have to tell anyone here that if you want to make it in this industry you have to be prepared to do things you never thought you would.

1. Maybe that's what the world needs...

2. Haha so, probably, you got budgets signed off on if you agreed to sire some super-filmmaker progeny. Sounds reasonable.

I think the Red people are very courteous. Just also funny.

Love the engravings. Will that be an option for EPIC-X?

Yeah, I really like the look of that and hope it is an option but it's probably too much work to do that for everyone.

However, I don't think it looks tribal...

Haha at least I hope it isn't because anyone who gets a tribal tattoo on their Epic should also have their warranty void!

Veering off topic a bit, but a while back Jarred said:
the side"cosmetic" pieces on Scarlet are removable.. and you can get different finishes. I can't remember if we officially mentioned that before for the 2/3"...... but you can. But please... No pink.

Perhaps this is just one of the examples of what some extra money and some extra time can get you? :cheers2:

your product designers need more praise, you guys are designing iconic products left right and center. This for me, is like the feeling I got when I first saw the Murciélago. Pure lust

This the most bad ass photo taken of a RED cam to date.

...just imagining the cool stuff you could do with that handle attached along with a top handle. (or RED side handle for leftys)

With all the talk about how impressively small and light Epic is every time we see a photo of it it's mounted on $10k+ heads that can hold massive amounts of weight. I want to see a picture of the thing on my $350 504HD lol

This is their first mattebox, y'all - it doesn't have to be all things to all people. Give them a little room to develop their line.

What it does have to be, is something that doesn't currently exist, at a price point that doesn't currently exist.

Matteboxes are suddenly evolving in new directions - O'Connor has done something innovative, RED is doing something innovative. RedRock did something innovative, though that innovation is being rapidly eclipsed...

I think they should call this mattebox the FIJI, because I can imagine that, if Jim wanted to drag a mattebox to Fiji, this would be the one...

It will be perfect for many applications - many professional applications...

And it is hands down, the best-looking mattebox ever. Or maybe that is just the EPIC, dressing it up.

I've been waiting for one of these...love it. Thanks for not abandoning the mattebox program, RED.

ha ha ha streak filter? really? my lord. I was sure those all got shipped to a remote island many, many years ago and turned into CocaCola bottles.

no problem Rob. More than happy for you to move on.. i promise my feelings wont be hurt :)

heh heh heh.

:biggrin5:

We are making a smaller mattebox for the Scarlet fixed remember, which looks a little more like they belong together.

Awesome! I thought that was scrapped a long time ago.

Loved the grip! Classy.
