  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Plug-in for CS4: update please!

question
does that mean since you never finished the cs3 version since august we now have to wait till Christmas for the version CS4?
haha! don't be mad I am just airing our frustration.
you know we have no right to complain its not like we are paying you for the good work.
just make sure it has sound/audio

Hmmm... I am confused, If I buy CS4 today, will Premiere handle R3D files or not?

We understand your frustation and it's our frustration too. Sometimes things that are easy on the surface and for proof of concept but turning that into something usable turns into something very complicated on both sides.

thanks Deanan, most times when you are on a forum with Red moderators and no one is answering or giving some kind of explanatory insight it gets frustrating because speculators step in and increase our worries.

you see for us micro filmmakers the Red cam has become the real revolution, but its so incomplete with the level of geekery and uber expensive edit solutions out there.

so please keep us posted. the problem is the early PR by Abobe showing videos of the plugin in action, we had creative organisms. only to be told to chill out.

Deanan - Can you at least give us a hint as to how it's going? Maybe a rough per cent completed?

I'm in the camp that if it's easier to just concentrate on CS4, rather than forcing it to work in CS3 too, then I say go for a CS4-only release. I'm willing to update to CS4 immediately if that means we'll get the plug-in faster.

As I have now received my Red and have shot some footage with it, please could someone advise what is the current recommended method of getting the footage into Premiere on the PC?

The QT codec is Mac only.
The plug-in is not yet available.
But I really don't want to have to buy a Mac!

Just would like confirmation that there will be a CS3 version. Some of us (well, ME) cannot afford to upgrade to CS4 yet and are putting all our chips on a CS3 Adobe plug-in and workflow.

I have a world to change, People! You're holdin' things up!:spidy: :glare: :angry2:

You might want to give Prospect 4K a try, download it from http://cineform.com/products/Downloads/Downloads.htm#DL1 That will work for 15 days and includes a R3D to Cineform avi converter.

But I warn you. You might not want to settle for something less afterward :)

is there a date for the release?

There is no date for now. Not even guesstimate. I feel it might be quite far away. If it was anywhere near, RED team would definitely let us know.

Maybe after Assimilate's contract expires we will see the plugin? I dont even know if they have a contract or if this is a political issue or a technical issue. It's just weird that Jim seemed to announce that it would be ready in a week, and now it looks like we won't see it until post 2009. And whatever happened to Apple Color supporting R3D? That was announced in April.
