  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED Party Pictures

wow - same ballroom where my cousin's wedding reception was held.

sooooo sweet.
=]

It is the angle... same dimensions.

It all looks great. I can't wait to buy some

Edit: What's wrong with the Avid guys having British accents?

i saw the Avid Demo at the Reduser event on www.justin.tv and was surprised and delighted that they used Sneaky Sound System "I Love It" as an example as it was shot on a red camera supplied by Kinetic Cameras and i was the DIT.

i'm sure it can be... the redmotes are also wireless.. may require that slr looking handle if you don't have the redmote...

Can the scarlet be operated without the redmote? One is attached in every photo, looks like it can't....?

I think you need either the redmote or the handle, one or the other or both. could be wrong.

You can control the camera with either the REDmote or the Handle... might be other options also. The REDmote is wireless so you can control all the brains from your pocket if you wish.

Jim, the new handles (and adjustable shoulder pad) look fantastic I love the rosette system, but please don't let them get too heavy compared to tube designs... congratulations.

What's the chance, that the Fixed Scarlet kit we can see in the picture will be the one to ship for 3750$ ?? :yikes: (sans the redmote ofcourse)

Does the RedHandle for the slr setup contain battery, controls, and a CF module, so you could for example have a s35 Scarlet brain with just the RedHandle attached and ready to shoot?

The handle does have a battery and controls, so yes... it's totally possible to shoot amazing footage in an extremely small footprint. The CF module is separate from the handle, but there are two options; one mounts to the left side of the camera (opposite the handle) running along the side of the body, and the other is a standard module that clamps to the back like the other module pieces. There are photos of both floating around. Each are very low profile, small add-ons. You also have the choice of using the new, small EVF or an LCD screen. If you get the Scarlet with the fixed lens, you can be running an incredibly small setup... but what's even more impressive to me is that with just a standard PL-mount lens, you can be shooting 5K with a Scarlet in that exact same configuration. It can be built to the nines or kept super tiny if you need to get a camera in a hard-to-maneuver location or for run and gun setups. Now I know why Jim is replacing his DSLRs with one of these!

So the fixed Scarlet will come with the(or a similar to?) dslr-style RedHandle?? That would be awesome. As digital pictures go mostly online anyway the 4.9mp 2/3" Scarlet would have more than enough resolution for regular(not meant for super large prints) pictures, and with it's autofocus it's easily the most kickass point and shoot ever made.

On the other hand the s35 Scarlet with the same minimalistic setup and old manual still lens would be awesome on a whole different level, especially because old manual still lens are really cheap. Just saw an manual Nikon 85mm f1.8 for 20$ on ebay :crying:
