  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Or Not Red

I think you'd be better off to find a used Scarlet MX body, R1 produces a great image, but you probably wont last long before you regret buying such a heavy camera. As for the 5D3, i would pass on that as well. Find a cheap scarlet body on here for 3-$4,000, then build the rest of the camera slowly.

I am listening what do you think how much more to spend to have it ready to shoot if i just get the body

PS i really appreciated it guys for all the help and time, i did not except to get so much help thanks again

well, you can find a body with ssd and lens mount for $5000 or under.. then all you technically need is some sort of canon lens, 128gb redmag (700$), and then a monitor. if you dont get a RED Touch monitor ($1500), then youll need a redmote to controll the camera controls ($250-$300)
Then you can just run off AC power until you are able to get a vmount battery and a plate.
with that setup, youll be able to shoot indoors. wont be able to shoot outside until you get a battery and something like the W00den camera fixed back and vmount plate. but theres many different types of vmount plates you can find used on the forums or ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/350951647819?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT this is the cheapest one you can buy, and it works perfectly

Hi guy i got a reply from thie first seller it was in french so i head to wait for translation he wants 3500 but i can nigotiate. Here is what he say (This is an original Red One MX camera with a total 86 hours on it. The camera has been upgraded to Mysterium X sensor (April 10, 2012) by Red. Also upgraded is the CPU/IO main board. The EVF and LCD were also sent back to Red at the same time for inspection and evaluation to ensure they work flawlessly with the MX sensor and the main board. Both EVF and LCD are in pristine condition. The camera also had the sound board replacement by Red in 2010. The camera kit is in excellent cosmetic condition. Lot of accessories.) What do you guys think if it is good i am rely to drive 7h to get it

Hi guys dino here thanks for all the help. I been searching high and low and i believe i found my baby Red MX FOR 3500 here are some images and can you tell what i am missing to have it reedy to shoot. I mean 3500 is really good price i would spend more on Black magic or canon mark 3 with extra staff. So basically this camera can do 4.5K RAW i don't believe at beginning i will shoot 4k 2k is my start i have mac pro 2009 16gb memory quad core 2.66 2 gtx 660 running resolve and premiere pro 4tb raid array 0. Will i need any addition hardware to run play with 2k raw from red. Where dng in black magic or raw in canon is easy to convert and use is it same here or do i need red rocket.

Thanks again guys

And again guys i am not looking to make money or run a business with a camera just to lean cinematography and lightning but i would like to have a good capable camera for at least 3 to 4 years. And i think MX would be good choice
