  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red One to Red Dragon?

R1 is a masterpiece. Starting from zero and making the R1 i think Mr. Jannard retro engineer something dropped by extraterrestrials :reddevil:. Since i bought my BT, it gives me unespected joy, i'm not kidding.

I totally agree, actually I bought the BT version when it became available, after I went through the stage 3 upgrade. As a Cinema camera I consider it my A-Body and the Epic as the B-Body for Back up,
Hand held and Slow motion. The R1 has all the connectors, hard on/off switches, dual viewer outputs, records on drives and ssd, is quite and balanced and shoots 4.5K which allows the use of all 35 film
lenses. I like what the Epic can do, but everything around it annoys me personally. Actually I think Red put the R1 to sleep prematurely. It should have continued as a Studio version with a studio EVF ,
sophisticated outputs a la Meitzner, LDS systems etc. First time I saw the Epic, it was clearly trying to be a still camera with video capability. For Cinema If You turn it upside down You will find that the
lens is lower, the mike input on top, the connectors accessible, the media on the right, where it should be, the grip controls on the left where You can get to, the blower not in Your face, the EVF cable
not in the way of the PL, not to mention the glitchy accessories You need just to turn the camera off. Nevertheless the Epic is epic, but the R1 for me is already a true classic that should be revived as
a Studio Camera.
