  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED ONE M-X Sensor Upgrade Program

Brian, Nick, John, and the rest of the crew have done a great job with this program. Despite the setbacks, they have been very professional and did a great job of communicating throughout the process.

To all of those still in the queue, the upgrade is well worth the wait. Your R1 will never be the same.:thumbsup:

MAD, MAD PROPS to the hard-working MX sensor team...I just shipped this on Monday, it was received on Tuesday, and they sent me a tracking number tonight. Blink, and #1008 is back home again!

I didn't see this question answered: If I get an email saying my turn has come up for the upgrade, but I don't have the funds available, can I send in my camera next month or do I lose my place in line?

Brandon, I wouldn't take the chance ya know. Sell something if you have to like your EVF or Red Drives or use a credit card. Even if they do hold your place in line, you know how things go, something could come up causing inventory shortage and unexpected delays. My recommendation is to get a box ready, fill out the UPS or FedEx shipping form, make sure you always have shipping tape and gas in your car and determine the latest drop-off location within a 20 mile radius of your house. As soon as you get the email, pay the fee and ship that baby same day man.

Ya know what I'm sayin'? This is MX we are talking about. :)

I wonder how little light one needs if shooting 4K on an MX RED ONE with a Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L lens on a Birger mount?

Good to hear they're moving fastTTT now. I remember back when I was a kid you could only get your MX Red's on horseback.

actually, its so sensitive it creates its own light. you will need to find a black hole to get any kind of image that is not clipped in the darkness

(Brandon! shhhh! for now they are saying this is open-ended. if you insist on a definitive answer they will give one that will protect them from making a disadvantageous decision beforehand. They will tell us in plenty of time before they end the program. Don't mess it up for the rest of us by insisting on an answer... shhhh!)
 
Haha, Elsie. Fine, you have 24 hours to upgrade after you get the email. Since you forced my hand and all....

Kidding, of course. The date you get notice is the first day you are eligible to send your camera in. As of right now, the date you have to do it by is open-ended.

to be blunt, people are so dumb not to take advantage of the M-X upgrade. The R1 still is a kick ass camera with a rock solid PL mount. pays for itself in 2 months. thanks RED TEAM!

Understood, Brandon. We understand people have cash flow timing issues, shooting schedules, etc that come into play. So, we are ready when you are. Our formula for how many people we blast and how frequently does take into account some people sending in "later" rather than "right away".

Say you buy a new RED ONE CAMERA? How long until you are able to upgrade to the MX sensor? Is it possible to buy one with the sensor already in place?

No new RED ONE with MX until after everyone with an existing RED ONE has been offered the MX sensor upgrade.
