  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED ONE build 32

thanks for what? for buggy firmware? :)
 
Will we see any new firmware release support for the RED One? I'm about to purchase another one at these great prices. Would love it if a "future" REDColor4/REDGamma4 is supported?

R1 had an update not too long ago .. it will continue to receive support for the important stuff like new color science.

Just dont expect more framerates or frame sizes or features.. We pushed that little guy as far as we can :)

Thanks for answering this. This was just asked in another thread and you confirmed what I thought. Do you have an ETA on a release build for Build 32?

Oh, and honestly, anything beyond maintenance firmware updates is a bonus at this point. I think support for new color science being an important one for sure. But overall, things are pretty good with this camera as it is. Just a few minor things here and there that hopefully can get worked out in release build. To expect new frame rates at this point....
 
Build 32 Beta is already out.. do you mean when the release build comes out?

I just hope that with this, some people stop talking S%$^ about the R1 being a dead camera dropped and sold as dead, I'm getting a bit tire of such negativity... Really... Even so I don't own a R1 neither I intend to..... I Thank you Jarred in place of al those Idiots that have nothing better to do then SPECULATE Negativity, about a company that so far has given their A&#$ in benefit of all of us!!

Tell that to Jim Jannard... he's the one that said it was End Of Life... that means dead... when life ends... unless you believe in reincarnation :-)

Then it was dropped and sold as dead at 16% of its original price. So if RED can sell it for 16% of it's original value why can't I try to buy it used at 8% of it's original value or see if someone would give it away?

Are you for real? The R1 BT will not go lower than those 16%. It should not! And why would someone give it away to a random person? Once you get something thats way to good to be true you try to push it even further? Comon! The Ford mustang shelby GT500 is also end of life... You gonna start running around looking for someone to give it to you for free? The R1 may not be in prodoction anymore, but it is still of GREAT VALUE for many of us! Sorry if I got you offended. I just got tired of these same massages coming from you.
 
Just because some dumb rental house rents you their camera for $1,000 does NOT make the R1 "dead'. Thats still a GREAT camera that shoots 4.5K and out performs the Scarlet on frame rates and does 120FPS in 2K. But the one thing the Scarlet and the Epic can do better is the high speed leaf blower in it. Hey, you can always loan it to hair and make-up so they can blow dry their hair.

"NO", With all do respects, each of these cameras have their pro's & cons and are ALL good cameras. The RED IS NOT DEAD...Their are a whole lot more RED ONES in the world than the others. Just because its no longer being produced does not mean they wont still be shooting some high end films!!

I guess the facetious nature of the post was lost on you Dan. My point was if the R1 is dead then how come I'm still getting rentals for it?
