  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED MINI MAG , MINI MAG SIDE MODULE and MINI MAG STATION now shipping.

The future is smaller....

heh heh heh.

Please give us 3k with s16(ish) frame size and small!.... Got some S16 glass waiting here! .... But if you go fixed I don't mind either.... 6-7mm through to about 50-60mm and T2.3 would be amazing;-)

You are the only guys who can (at a sensible price)!!

There or there abouts and we're in for a few! ;-)

I am pretty sure Jarred was referring to the REDMAGs - not the cameras. Let's not re-open that can of worms... :reddevil:

Jarred, for a Scarlet Dragon, is it better (cheaper  ) to get two 1.8 240 GB than two 512 Gb minis?
Scarlet Dragon won't ever reach over the 1.8 speeds?

heh heh yes...

sorry my enthusiasm is running away from me...

I need somehting more robust and easier (for more junoir guys) for certain situations (for example BTS of my main shoots) AND i do not want to go back to the non-raw low end!

my bad! ;-)

I just did a test shoot with the dragon carbon fiber mini-mag side module. The footage plays back on the camera fine but when I try to mount it to any of my computers with the mini-mag reader I get nothing. Disk utility is unable to detect anything either. I even used two different mini-mag readers. Can anyone have advice of what to do?

Are you sure you are pushing it in far enough? It should go in so that part of the lettering RED is inside the slot.

This happened to me so that is why I'm suggesting this.

Even though you hit resistance, push through the hymen wall that keeps you from busting the cherry of your Mini-Mag!

Dying to get my hands on the carbon fibre minimag ssd side module for our CF Dragon, as more and more clients want 512GB cards. I have been hitting my Bomb Squad rep with these request since Jan, when it was announced.

It has become weird, as my premium customers (Mostly drone) for CF DRAGONS get 1.8" GB cards, while my normal DRAGON customers are getting MINI-MAGS.

Hi Michael.

One of my four minima's requires a lot of force, to seat in the reader. I haven't used that mag enough to detect, if it is wearing in, so to say. I don't know if it is reader or the housing of the card though, as there are corners of the other mags that have some of the gray areas thinning, in appearance.

Does the station red mini require external power? For a DIT it's very practical to be able to power both drives and card reader from the laptop directly (if at remote location or in motion)

No power needed off usb3

on mac it is bus powered (via usb3)

in general: i have 2 of these and both need the mags inserted several times to get them to mount.....

It even comes with a USB cable to plug into the power slot so you can power it that way if the connector (eSATA for instance) doesn't power the reader.

Same problem here Red minimal station does not recognise cards

Same here, tried all 3 different connections + AC adapter, 2 different 512 GB cards (both formatted, recording and played back in the Epic), and 3 different computers (iMac, Mac Book Pro, and PC) and always the same situation: the station has the power light on but does not show up on the computer.

Just spent 4 days sorting out the assembling and some issues with the Gates underwater housing and now that everything is operational I can´t get the media. Supposed to leave on a trip with this gear on Thursday. Any ideas on solutions???? I am guessing I have a bad MiniMag station.

All help is welcome and cherished;-)

Hi Nuno,

Be sure that you fully seat the minima's in the reader. Some of the mags require a lot of "effort" to properly seat. I found this out, when one of my four mini mags didn't "seem" to be readable, by the reader. I supplied more "effort" and heard the minimal click in-everything fine! That minimal has become easier to seat as more usage has occurred.

Thank you very much

Fury

Hi Fury,

Thanks on the quick reply. I already tried that on both cards, I had seen a few posts about this issue and it also shows up on the trouble shooting section of the minimag station users manual. I honestly think I have tried every single solution. Just sent the bomb squad a message but I guess I will have to patiently wait till Monday :-(

I took a leap of faith and pressed the card hard into the reader, there was a large "click" and then it was seated correctly. Now it's not that hard anymore to push it in, don't know why (don't wanna know :D ), but the card should be pushed in so that the "RED" text logo's lower end just touches the slot entrance.

FYI, I think the lights on the new red station works differently.

i noticed that when no card is inserted, the light is on. When a media card is inserted, the red led light is off unless being read or written on (at which point it blinks). This is new from just being on if a ssd was inserted.
