We have come along way![]()
Marc...I was wondering about the same thing. From comparing the Free Hill data sheet with the 512 1.8" mag at 6K to the new Mini Mag compression rates at 6K, it appears that across the board the Mini Mag is only 1 Redcode compression stop lower. Which isn't bad for those of us that grabbed the 512GB cards early on.
Maybe think about if you need in the future to hire a second camera for second angle. I have a Scarlet but a R1MX incase I need a second angle. That is only with a 1.8" SSD so that solves my question right there. I imagine that a lot of rental houses may be stuck with 1.8" SSD's for a while.
So we know that there are plans for a 1TB mini mag, but are there any signs of smaller storage size with the mini mags? At that price point (if we're using the 512's as a starting point), it makes financial sense to invest in the mini mag system. I've got a massive shoot in March and I need to make a decision pretty soon about which format to invest in
I'm pretty sure smaller red minimags aren't coming out. I believe this is in large part due to the new workflow which red will be announcing in 2014 which will eliminate the need to swap redmags all day.
Nice!Buying an epic in the new year, you've just saved by $4000. Bless.
How do you avoid swapping with only one slot?!
You have your footage automatically synced to a local server.
Are you just dreaming about this happening, or can you point or link to some post by Jarred etc. that confirms this?![]()
But the data would be huge to transmit wirelessly
Jarred already confirmed a "Live Module" of some sorts. I had my suspicions, since live streaming of R3Ds to a computer would alleviate the need to create proxies in camera and probably allow for a smaller/ cheaper module. Now with the confirmation of a live module I can't imagine it not having the ability to stream R3Ds to a remote computer.
Wireless 4K is not only possible, but has been demonstrated. Just putting that out there.
