So ... RED's website store doesn't make it easy for folks to know what to buy. It's kinda a disaster right now UNLESS you go to NEW RELEASES - but there are some, IMO, important AKS for Weapon that you can ONLY find in New Releases.
So I'm gonna post some stuff about basic AKS that I think you need and why.
First up - RED LEMO ADAPTER B. http://www.red.com/store/products/weapon-lemo-adaptor-b
$195 - It's a MUST HAVE.
This adapter allows you to screw the "cable free" Weapon 7" LCD monitor onto it and then have the LEMO connector so that you can mount your LCD ANYWHERE on the camera. Further - with it - you can use the Weapon 7" LCD monitor on an Epic or Scarlet.
When I first screwed it on - I thought it was a little "bulky" - but then I weighed it against the non-Weapon 7" LCD - which was 1.25 lbs vs 1.35 lbs for Weapon 7" LCD monitor + RED LEMO ADAPTER B.
After you handle it for a moment or two - there is NOT CONTEST. You want the Weapon 7" LCD monitor + the RED LEMO ADAPTER B - even if you don't have a Weapon. It gives you LOTS more mounting options - and the hinge is MUCH better mechanically.
So ... better for Epic/Scarlet than standard 7" LCD.
On Weapon - 99% of the time - features and TV shows do NOT mount the monitor in the position that Jarred and run & gun guys do - on the top, front of the camera. But if you have this adapter - you CAN mount ANYWHERE with a NOGA arm + LCD cable into the LEMO Adapter A - OR - lock it down without a cable directly on the top of the Weapon.
So .. best of both worlds on Weapon.
Further ... we have a little surprise for Weapon folks at IBC - and you will need the RED LEMO ADAPTER B for the full tilt boogie
A few quick snaps -
