Hi. I've revised the question:
Any chance we can rig the monitor to work with other cameras?
Thanks.

On the other side, will other LCD's work with the RED?
This is from the FAQ sticky: RED LCD $1,750...
The screen was prototyped out of aluminum, but may change to ABS plastic when it ships. On the top of the LCD is a power button and three interface control buttons...
No it won't work in that application. Its an integrated to the camera electronics design, i.e specific to RED ONE.

hey bruce
first off, what's the size of yours?..
second and most important, would you sell me one unit before your move to south africa.. or during october-november?
like this ones for example? The other cheap way would be to use a larger TV / computer monitor in conjunction with a HD-SDI -> HDMI / DVI / VGA converter box?
like this ones for example?

well, we've got a Marshall R70P-HDA monitor (http://www.lcdracks.com/monitors/vr70phda.html). I was curious if that would be ideal at all for the RED. I'm really banging my head against the wall right now debating between the EVF and the LCD.
The VAIO doesn't have HD video in of any kind. So you can't use it. Besides, it has very similar specs to the Red screen but worse integration and a higher price.
