I'm just curious as to wether or not anybody knows what each pin on the LCD Output from the camera provides? I know it's a 17 pin..... I'd imagine one of them to be a ground...... what are the other 16?

RED-LCD pin out

RED-LCD pin out

The pin out is not posted anywhere as its a custom interface to the RED-LCD, (as is the RED-EVF) so you can't just break out video signals for example.

If you need to build an extension cable of different length than the ones we offer, then please send us an e-mail to the red support page.

You can physically connect wires to BNC connectors, but if it's a proprietary digital signal (as it sounds like), then only the Red monitor will show anything useful from it.

well soderbergh has got a different monitor than the red lcd for his rig...

I didn't realize they were enabled yet. Was I sleeping?
EDIT: Oh right, it's one or the other.

its for sure not a HD15, as its not analog. As its "based on" DVI, I assume it being rather a split between controller and diaplay, like the cables inside laptops to drive the screen. Some kind of LVDS maybe.

I'm assuming he wanted a higher quality signal?? Or he just preferred that monitor?

He probably used that monitor so he could pass the HD-SDI signal out from the camera onto video village and playback. We've been using an 8.5" HD-SDI Panasonic monitor for this on set since the cameras shipped.

okay, the only thing is I honestly don't want to use the Red LCD..... I was looking at the Panasonic 8.4" for the Op. and then a 8" for the AC. So I some how need to get the LCD out from the camera to a BNC cable.

and why not just the the HD-SDI outs and leave the LCD alone.

How about an EVF for the operator? Although, I'm not sure that Red is still making them.

Why do you have monitors for the cast and crew?

In my experience you only need a monitor for your director. If your sound recordist brings a monitor to watch for the boom that's great. Your script sup and stunt co-ordinator can all watch with the director. If you bring ten monitors then everyone stops making movies and just starts watching movies.

First of all, what kind of shoot is this??? Wouldn't you feel disonnected if you were on a bus directing instead of on set. Maybe I'm reading this wrong.

That sounds anti-productive to me. I guess I'm from the school of directing from beside the camera. Going on and off of the bus seems like a real time waste. How many days do you have scheduled? Are all your locations tour bus accessible? Sorry if I'm coming off negative, but this all sounds crazy to me.

Alien you and JohnathanLB should business partner together. I can see you two doing some big things.

Oh ya if you get 2 or 3 lazy boy recliners for the electrics plasma screen they would be very happy.
