  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Yeah,

It's probably in the very early stages of development. If it gets people excited about a new Komodo Camera coming sometime in the future ,let them have fun with the speculations.

Props to this guy for even opening up a Komodo and confirming that it's FPGA based.
I thought RED was staying the ASIC route since DSMC 1 so this is an interesting revelation particularly with
Komodo being so power efficient.

Agree with Jonathan that I doubt an updated Komodo model is around the corner just yet.
I think the existing Komodo is not completely out of it development cycle.

Don't know the official sales numbers but Komodo does seem to still be in demand.

Komodo took a little over a year to get to market after the official announcement.
Yes- the global pandemic (still weird to say that as matter of fact) hit during that time but
RED seemed to take a good long time beta testing it.

Happy with the Komodos I have and look forward to what's next with firmware updates.

Red could do both and Differentiate them like Red-Raven and Red Scarlet-W. Maybe the Komodo-X would get an Interchangeable Lense Mount. I mean their would have to something that justified it being between the Komodo and the V-Raptor S35.

yes you’re right about that and i wouldn’t be surprised if they
do have both the current Komodo and a higher end perhaps
XL model exist in the same lineup.

I have my doubts a Komodo XL model would arrive this year but who knows.

Scott Balkum's latest livestream (5/5/23) which is still streaming as I type.
Granted Scott was drowning in some technical issues for the 1st 30 odd minutes but the stream
had some interesting reveals by Jarred (AKA RED prez).

Have no idea when it will be released but it looks like it will likely get officially announced much sooner than I expected (I thought next year).
