A lot of changes for sure. The thing I crave from my Komodo is better autofocus (with less hunting!). Have we reached the end of the line with those improvements? Someone (not me) suggested that maybe it would be possible to incorporate the face-tracking from our phones with RED Control to give us something really useful. I do wonder if that might not be possible.

maybe it would be possible to incorporate the face-tracking from our phones with RED Control

I think this is what RED Control Pro currently does, it makes use of the built-in face tracking capabilities in iOS/MacOS. Pass video frames to the API and get a rectangle for the face back for free.

The non-Pro version of RED Control does that, too. . . just not very well. I would love a solid AF. It would make a HUGE difference in our filmmaking.

Completely agree, a reliable and predictable AF would make many things a lot easier, and eventually also better than manual on a small monitor. The current behavior is often too unpredictable, too jumpy without any control for a smooth curve between two focus points. I wish there were settings to fine-tune the movement between focus points, whether you want to focus the tip of the nose, the eyes, or the ears, per-define focus ramps, etc.
As of now, it is usable when I can dry run some tests before shooting and verify that it hits the focus where I want it. But not so much in situations where AF would make a lot of sense like run&gun where I don't know my focus points before.

Exactly! I couldn't have said it better myself, Mr. Zeder!

Is it realistic to expect RED to achieve really good AF anytime soon. Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic have been doing all kinds of AF for 30+ years spread out over billions in camera sales that can fund lots of R&D? RED has had the benefit of seeing how things were being done but it is a long way from basic autofocus to really good anticipatory AF.

Touch on touchscreen is not working on dsmc2 helium 8k body any help

So I'm not sure if it was this specific 1.7.4beta update or not, but previously my Komodo Link was not working on my Komodo ST, and now with this firmware it works perfectly with my iPhone 14 Pro! If anyone else was having issues with Komodo link might be worth trying out. Good shit.
