  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED is awesome

Wow! Great flick. I loved it :)

Edit: That was in reference to the film "Losses" that I guess was deleted.

all Shot on RED makes me want one now !!!!!!!

Bart - by your join date, reinforced by the way you have handled yourself in your 39 posts to date, I would guess you are pretty new to this forum, and probably pretty young as well. My suggestion is to hang around, post a few questions and observations now and then, look around and get a sense for what the rules and conventions are, and you'll do just fine.

The mods have always frowned on posting in multiple threads and usually delete the duplicates. They also try to identify and eliminate "trolling" behavior and, really don't like a lot of discussion and bashing of other cameras and companies. Not sure what was deleted but, if it was, chances are it was over some line. Just my two cents. :smile5:

It was nothing bad or bashing or troll like it was just a short film LOsses from Film Riot which is cool and shot on RED oh well.....

Bart, I just watched Losses embedded in your post; I bet Kemalettin did too. This being REDuser, I won't comment on the (over)acting, but the Epic 'gate flare' is certainly in full effect.

I wasn't gonna mention it, but I agree with you about the flare Erik... full effect. I just bought some flocking online :)

I think they where just seeing how they stack up for delivery to online, interesting I thought.

For online deliver you might as well include video shot on an iphone 5. I can add compression artifacts to what I shoot on RED all day long and it'll match a DSLR just fine. RED is more about future proofing - right now that's future proofing movies for 4K projection and beyond, but the argument is just as valid for online delivery as Youtube already has 4K streaming available and it's looking more and more like future operating systems are adding a backend to support 4K and higher displays.

There's no doubt in my mind that people can produce and are producing beautiful imagery with many cameras. Shoot I have a 12MP point and shoot that has taken a lot of pretty pictures in a pinch. It's a question of whether that captured beauty will stand the test of time, and in that case, comparing EPIC to a DSLR is pointless and antithetical to what we're trying to do here.

Just thought it was interesting, because in the end it's the talent behind the camera not the camera itself, but your right RED is more future proofing but I don't see 4k monitors being affordable anytime soon

Agreed on the talent. On affordability... I'm sure the future is looking a little different through the eyes of Jim and Jarred :)

Why are some ppl so sensitive on here??? man can't even comment on anything without getting someone mad

Those big white vertical streaks you see across the picture when a powerful light is just off camera. There are several REDuser threads discussing it.

Brought this up on DVXuser also... (gate flares) - but the whole discussion on the thread there ended up being the true cost of a $250 dollar budget...

Regarding the short film, it's OK - but I don't think it wins any points for being shot on an Epic (Eric Kessler's).
