Would a disclaimer solve these issues?
A disclaimer is good practice, but isn't a cure all.
Put simply RED spends a lot of money to build a brand. A brand that associates the word RED within the field of digital imaging and production with their products and development efforts. They can't have other people using the brand they have created, or worse still confusing consumers with brands that are similar but not from RED.
If I call myself REDStore and then release a product that is a complete turd and ruins people's shoots then that would have a negative impact on the RED brand, even though it had nothing to do with them.
Not saying everyone using RED in the name will cause chaos and stiff customers, but RED can't take that risk with their brand.
Make a brand around something else, if you want to use a RED-something domain name as a forwarder then you're not terribly out-of-line but you should talk to RED about it. And make sure it's not your primary domain - if I registered redstore.com and had it pointed at my site, I'd make sure that when you typed it in you ended up at shotwrangler.com/solidstore
