  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED is 24P? or True 24?

theaters do show each frame twice creating 48 flashes but not 48 different images, only 24 different images. mr hobbit shot 48 different shots per second and it looked bad. he tried to rerelease it @24 but the damage was done. funny how they love to tell the public what they need to see, just like criminal politicians or an old Geritol© commercial. you guys are too young to remember that one, that's a good thing!! if one thinks about it, we don't really have a standard, we have many standards... yuk

what? get over this ... just because that is what it truly is, antiquated hunt . . . . this . that please lets dump this nonsense once and for all...
Gee, I thought we had dumped this thread back in 2009, when it started. Does nobody read the message dates?

I do agree that the motion-enhanced settings on consumer TV sets are bad, and manufacturers persist in making those the default settings for displays right out of the box. Very sad to see edgy, "digitalish" pictures like this.

"Mr. Hobbit?" Gee, that's not very nice. I always try to have respect for any directors who have more Oscars than I do.

I believe the refresh rates on most of the Barco / Christie / JVC / Sony projectors I've seen is variable all the way up to 96Hz, and they do just take the same frame and show it two, three, or four times. They're just trying to reduce flicker and motion artifacts, and it's not so bad. At 240Hz, I suspect it would be objectionable.
