  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED in Sweden

Kul att se att proffsen köper Red. Själv har jag lagt en order för lite privat lekstuga. Säg bara till om du behöver låna en fjärde kamera ;-)

I'm willing to lend mine to anyone who can and is willing to let me join and watch instead of equipment rent. I want to learn the art of filmmaking, but I'm to old and stressed to do it the long and hard way (no classrooms for me, but I pick things up at the speed of lightning ;-) ).

I put my order for the Red One camera and every accessory and lens available from Red less than 24 hours ago.

Hopefully some fellow Swede in Stockholm with more talent and experience than cash would be willing to take me up on that offer.

I'm sorry if I offended you. Some of the words were obviously looked up in a dictionary or using an online translator, so I thought you were kidding with us. If there will be a Swedish user group, we're glad to have you join it!

Yes. She was, to my surprise, very supporting. I've also ordered yet one more RedOne without anything but the basic production pack. So now I'm reading, reading, reading and playing alot with by DSLR to prepare myself. I'm also visiting indie film communities to find playmates when the stuff arrives. Need I to say I'm very excited about this...
 
Hey Jack! Congratulations on your cameras! Its nice to see that there are others without any cinematography experience that also doesn´t hesitate getting a Red :) I hope we will get quite a little Red community going on in Stockholm!
 
Peter: Are you still interested in hosting a get together in September? Maybe it should be after the IBC, i.e. after Sep 10? How about Saturday Sep 15? Let me know if I can help out in any way!

Also: Anyone knows many reds we'll be getting to Stockholm?

Yeah, we should definitely do a get together! I have a screening room/greenscreen studio (small one) at my place, so we can be here for sure! We could do all kind of tests and just have fun. I guess everyone are having very different backgrounds, but with a common interest to own a superior camera, so it will be invaluable to hear what kind of knowledge people have for a 4k pipeline etc.

However since the delivery schedule have slipped, I see no point in setting a get-together date until atleast someone has gotten their Red One. I think Patrik and Dagsljus have the first reservation numbers (3 each I think), and then Christian from Frameville and Markus at Film fatale get theirs. And Olle, me and Srfilm get theirs in December I think, and at last but not least Jack gets his two babies ;) It would be great to know if someone of the first reservation holders are interested to "display" the Red One for a get-together. Since we can then set a date and such. How does it sound to you guys?!

Well, I have had a dream for a long time to have my own "digital playground" that let me do pretty much what I want in terms of VFX stuff inhouse. Since I first heard about the Red One, I thought that now Im finally able to realize my dream. I have always been dissapointed in the quality other cameras, but Red One seems to be the s**t from what I can tell :)

The plan is to be able to have atleast a 2K pipeline all the way. Since I mainly do 3D I just started switching out the renderfarm to quadcore rendernodes with 4GB Ram each, that I hope will be able to crank out atleast 2K within reasonable time. Im now sketching on a new "filmserver" (dunno what to call it anymore since its definitely not video anymore ;).) where each workstation will have a bonded connection straight to the server, that will be expandable up to 254TB storage space. The VFX kit is based on a Moven motioncapture suit, the Red One and another product that I can´t speak about yet :I So right now I feel that 2008 will be a very very interesting year!

It will be totaly awesome to see what others will do with their Reds! And I hope that if we get a good community going on, we will avoid alot of misstakes since we are all early adopters of something totally new and totally cool :)
 
Im down at IBC between the 7th and the 9th btw, so if anyone else is going down there it would be cool to meet up!
 
Cool Andreas! I hope you'll make it. It would be a great opportunity to meet up and discuss 4k workflow and accessories for the Red. I hope to gather as much info I can during IBC.
 
Hello you Swedes, would you accept a Finn into your gang. You know, we used to be the same nation in the history -a queen of Sweden spent a lot of time only some kilometers away where I live. Furthermore ... vi också talar svenska, if you really force us to do so.

Do you know if RED have anything special planned for reservation holders?
