Another from Singapore here. I'm quite surprised there aren't more of us really. Then again, a lot of the local guys are frogs in the Sony, Panasonic and JVC well.

Hahaha how true... Oh well there aren't many of us on this tiny island and whatever are out there didn't have much of a choice other than to choose between Sony and Panny (not so JVC)

It' great that know we have another chioce available, but weather the big boys are willing to drop the HDX900, VariCams and CineAltas for the RED is something we have to wait and see. They have invested too much money on the big chunky expensive decks and many have not broke even.

Just my 0.00002 cents

Hey guys,

I have been just waiting for my Red One to come alive for awhile. I am currently
in the US, but I am also planning on working in Korea, which is where I am
from. Does that make me the first one in Korea? No back ups, no good. :shiftyph34r:
By the way, I'm willing to travel everywhere, so let me know
if any of you guys are stuck with one camera in your region.

Best,

Hey Nook!

Hire me! I'll work for free in return to shoot on the Red One... LoL!

Cheers mate... Gd luck in Korea!

PS: Do post some footage when you can!

Hey Anan, twLim and Flowerchildprojetks,

Great to hear that there are guys in Singapore taking the RED plunge. I'm a Singaporean producer, currently based in London but prepping to shoot a 500/700k feature in Singapore end 2008. Would love to talk to you guys about shooting it on RED. Have you figured out your rate card for REDONE operating and rental?

Cheers,
Marcus Lim

Definitely, the most attractive aspect of the Red is its open architecture and the commitment to integrating and working with all our existing workflows, hardware and applications.

What has become very obvious is that the lack of innovation and flexibility in all preceding solutions have come from manufacturers that want to milk as much as they can out of the customer and sell the entire production/post-production pipeline by maintaining proprietary decks/media.

What projects do you intend to start using the red on? I would be very interested in seeing it in action.

Sorry Dude, RED is not open but only stick with the RED APPLE.

Certainly, n terms of post architecture FCP is the only one supported out of the gate so far, but red cine and red code will transcode into formats that are usable by other NLEs.

In terms of hardware architecture, it's refreshing to see that they're not trying to force us to use P2/proprietary media. The fact that it shoots to CF is brilliant.

Hi Marcus,

Great to know you are working on a feature, but I think the earliest Red One to come into SG is FlowerChildProject's camera. I currently trying to source for funds on a HD telemovie project. Hoping to shoot it on Jan 2008, after that I am hoping my next project will be on the Red....

Do let me know if you need help on your feature.

Cheers!

Hi Marcus, similarly, I am looking at shooting a feature on the Red next year as well. Do let me know if you need any help for your feature. I can edit on FCP and Avid, grip and direct/AD.

It would be good for all of us to meet and work together, hopefully learning more about the workflows along the way.

Hi Marcus,

I'm thinking that by the time you start production on your feature late next year, rentals for the Red would have dropped a bit.
My Red is scheduled to ship on Nov 10th. I'm still thinking whether to fly down to collect it personally or not (depending on work commitments) cuz i'm starting a long form project possible mid-Oct.
Anyways, have fun prepping your feature..and maybe we can chat some more when you have firmer dates.

Hi Marcus,

sure anytime when you are ready. We are setting up the full 4K workflow and looking at Scratch for color and DI conforming and also for film-out.

PM me if needed.
