  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Gunner Review is up! =) Pretty much everything you need to know.

Someone please explain what that wheel is all about...what does it do?

It's basically just a way to grab your camera on a handle held configuration.

so how does is work with 15mm LWS bars, i have to the action products 15mm bracket, can is still run these bars, or will they interfere with the gunner, did you already try that?

Nah...there's gotta be a reason why it's a wheel and not a common handle

it's one of those things where you really gatta try out and realise just how comfterble and well it works:-) Once you pick it up on that rig.... it just feels right:-P

As a wheel it can be handled from various directions. It can alleviate pressure on wrists by having the camera rest in your palm. It's somewhat of an updated design of the classic wooden grip as seen here:

Tonaci, thanks for the review! Very thorough job! You've angered me a bit... I had JUST bought a Red Clutch! In fact, I haven't even had it in the field yet! Damn! I was on the fence about the tactical cage, so I went with the View Factor Full Metal Jacket... now I'm wishing I would have gotten the Tactical Cage! Curses to you again! ;) I do appreciate your posting this!

Very informative, TT. Thanks. This type of review is what Red needs to encourage or do itself. It's not always obvious how some of their goodies work...

Great review, Tonaci. I love your longer video with Matt Tremblay talking about the Gunner Rail System too.

Tonaci any word on the padding you might want to share? Soft? Gel like? Hard? What does it feel like?

Cheers
Patrick

Tonaci, how is the fixed handle vs the ball socket handle? The gunner sets use the fixed, but wouldn't the ball socket ones be more flexible and a better choice? Or is it not needed for the shorter gunner?

Hi Tonaci , Thanks a lot for sharing this, this is very helpful. As many other members my question is : how can we put a follow focus on this ? With a Quick release Platform (dovetail) and Dsmc universal mount 19mm ? or 15mm ? Thanks again for your help.

Isn't there a shoulder mount or a way to set up a shoulder mount to avoid the shoulder tilt, neck jog and spinal curve? (If the camera were vertical his neck and shoulders would be bent and tilted even more.)
