Hello RED team.

I was planning to build a shoulder mount to use on RED ONE shootings when I found out RED-GUN was planned once upon a time...

"Las Vegas, NAB, April 25, 2006 - ....Red also showed the NAB audience its prototype magnesium shoulder mount, called the RED-GUN, which is intended to give the videographer camcorder-like mobility using a shoulder-mounted articulating arm."

I know that there are a lot of systems out there but I think we need something special to use on rods to keep gravity as close to the body and wich holds better on shoulder or to use on low mode.

Something like Meinardus did for Panavision cams:

Any plans out there?

Thanks

Pat

Man, holding the RED [often 20-40lbs] out at arm's length like a gun? It probably made more sense back when the camera was supposed to weigh 6lbs or so, but now... I wouldn't bet on it.

I bet it'll reappear with Scarlet.

I've been using a padded shoulder strap taken off some luggage. It is amazing if you are holding a red for hours and hours doing run and gun stuff. Whenever you arent shooting its just slung over your shoulder, I also shoot with it that way sometimes. It's seriously amazing and after I started doing it I couldn't believe I hadn't done it sooner, or seen it on these boards.

Just put a strap around the left rod on the top. I've seen it done better, around the base of the top handle, or just somehow made so that it doesn't slide around (on mine, it slides on the left top rod but I don't mind).

thank god they weren't using RED instead of Machine guns to try and lure me into the army when I was in high school.......but both get the same response when they are put in the hands of amateurs: "how the hell do I shoot with this thing?"

Hello Zak,

Do you have any picture showing your patent pending system? :sarcasm:

Would love to see your invention.
