Hello guys

I am having problem with Mini Mag

After all day shoot. My DP copied file into the Macbook pro actually "command+X" which is cut and paste ;-(
after that he did insert same minimag back to camera without knowing crew.

Camera recognized minimag as 75% left even though all the clips had been cut away from the minimag
Right after that Assistant tried play back the clip from camera. Camera was not able to play back any clip because All clips had been cut out to Macbook

After this, Gemini stoped recognized memory. I tried five other memories I have.
All of them doesn't recognized by camera

I did try RESTORE SYSTEM, REDISCOVER, FACTORY RESET.
Still having same problem.

What shoud I do?
Only thing I can think of is upgrading firmware.

Any suggestion will be really appreciated
PLESE HELP~!

Thank you so much
Gunho

Not sure if this will help, but I had an issue where my media doesn't get recognized.

Try booting up the camera first with no media in it.

After it boots, put the SSD into the camera and see if it will recognize.

My issue is that sometimes it won't recognize with the card is in the camera from the start-up.

You may have to format the Red MAG ssd card once it goes in (and is recognized) to start using it again.

Hope this helps or works for you.

Thank you for reply~!

I boot many times without ssd.
When I insert ssd after boots I see its mounting message shortly but no media recognition in the monitor.( no percentage)

And When I hit rec button it says there is no media.
Keep doing this all day long

ok so can't format the mag? Did I get it right?
Have you tried formatting SSDs with a mac in FAT, then reinserting it into the camera?

That's right, I can't format it. and I did try formatting from mac and insert back but no luck so far.

have you tried with other mags?
in case you could use another mag with the firmware loaded above, so it can understand if the camera is able to make an upgrade.
If not, you can only contact RED.

Thank you for advice.

I did try 5 other mags, all same. Did format FAT from Mac, not mountiing.
and Did add new firmware only and boot but it's still not mounting.
So worried now

Hmm. Last time that happened to me, I had to send it back to RED for repairs. It was almost the price of a new SSD. As for why all 5 of your SSD aren't working, that's insane. Have you tried passing it to another Red Owner to try and format with their camera? Maybe see if it's your firmware version or corrupted software.

Is the Gemini your camera and is the mag your mag? This may be a dumb question but were the mags secure-formatted prior to use? I believe this keeps any user other than the owner from using the mag?

That is not correct.

A Secure Formatted mag can be used in other cameras. There are many reasons to have the feature, but professionally one of the biggest reasons is to "fully wipe the mag", meaning zero possibility of restoring data, which is possible from a regular formatting. Ideally this is how any rental house media is handled after a project wraps to ensure no theft of IP/content.

Thanks for the clarification Phil I wasn't sure
