  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED future...

It is a curiosity that certain employees like Graeme, Stuart, Deanan, etc. are all well known to us while the sensor team, amongst vast other Red employees are unknown to us. I mean it's fine, it's just curious.

RED isn't a huge corporation where people have well-defined roles. I think many of the people we already know pitch in on sensor development as well.

Unless of course we mean to imply that outside providers are largely responsible for Red's success and that this somewhat undermines Red's claims ...
i.e Joofa: "... if Red's incessant claims about the superiority of their technology are right then I find it mildly amusing that those guys are nowhere to be seen!" The operative word being "their".

You have little idea how the industry works.

Sensor designers come from Loompaland, which is a region of Loompa, a small isolated island in the Atlantic Ocean. The sensor designers would end up being preyed upon or attacked by Whangdoodles, Hornswogglers and Snozzwangers, which also lived there. Jim ended up inviting them to work at his factory and get away from their natural predators.

It's all on wikipedia...

Funny my original message got deleted and censored. What did I say so wrong? Hope they don't ban me again.

Joofa
The aliens invented the sensor and your getting too close to working it out.

The fact is that currently the M-X sensor has a combination of resolution, dynamic range and frame rates that is not matched by any sensor ever made for mass production. I'm not even aware of a military or engineering one-off that beats it. And it is only our second sensor. I am also seeing what's coming...

As for the sensor industry... it is changing very rapidly. I'd be surprised if Joofa's vision of how things work applied to what we are doing. We certainly aren't running our program the way the others do...

Jim

Mr. Jannard, I just politely asked that which individuals are here that are sensor team which you said post here. I just don't see what is the big deal in identifying them.

Joofa, no offense meant, but these seem like very prying questions. Seems like there is an agenda. Not that it's any of my business, just saying that's how I see it as an outsider.

I would understand if Jim wanted to keep that type of information close to the vest. It is his company, no?

I think Joofa is the secret sensor designer. The back and forth with Jim is just a ruse to throw us all of track.

Keep up the good work on that new sensor Joofa! :)

Steve I understand what you are saying. I just also expressed my thoughts as an outsider as you did. There is no malicious agenda here.

IMO, it's partly maintaining competitive advantage. It's like releasing the Spiderman movie script before it's finished--it's not good practice.

Well, wouldn't be the first time someone pulled one over on me. :biggrin5:

Cool. Like I said, none of my business anyway. :-)

To the outsider, you simply seem bent on poking RED in the eye with a stick for no discernible reason. What difference does it really make TO YOU if the sensors are designed by Tom Smith or Emma Jones... or Mick Jagger, for that matter? Seems like Jim is trying to politely decline answering your question. Why not accept that? If someone has a reason for not providing information to you, can you not just respect that? In the end, you can buy the products or not - totally up to you. You can even ask questions, however impolite and impertinent. But why not accept the answers as given, with respect, and leave it at that? :frown2:
