RED Epic and Scarlet...

2 sec. startup time is outstanding...

very much looking forward to all of the innovations.

i'm getting increasingly attached to my RED ONEs, though, as soon as all the upgrade programs kick in, i may not want to trade in my babies. new battery chargers, new audio boards, new CF modules.

it's kinda like sprucing up your house before you sell, only to decide it's a pretty nice place to live after all.

naw, bring me an EPIC and a side order of SCARLET...

Jim, is there going to be DSMC news in November as well?

thanks!

Owning a Red One will be of great importance

Owning a Red One will be of great importance

I can see that being good for people seeking to upgrade to EPIC.

But does that mean those of us indy filmmakers, who have been waiting to get involved with all things RED, will have to take a backburner to owning a SCARLET if Red One owners get first dibs to buy 2 or 4 each? (( or 12 if they're a rental house )).

I know I gripe about that point all the time. There are some of us who have been a part of the forums (even silently) since close to day one who can't afford to start off with a RED ONE and all the accessories for our first forays into directing and would hate to be sent to the back of the line on the camera that you guys are building so diligently FOR our type of filmmakers.

I do love what you guys are doing. Wish this level of tech could have happened years ago. But gratefully i'll be able to finally get into that side of filmmaking on my own for once and i'll owe it all to you guys. I've never seen this much company interaction with its clients for R&D and troubleshooting.

Just hate to be stuck at being camera order #6000 at the back of the pack while being first in line from the non-red owners. So if you are going to give RED owners a shot at it, will there be a cap on how many they can order in their first wave so the rest of us can be caught up to by 2010

My 1.8 cents, and I won't rant about it again.

I have previously posted both "Scarlet has Changed" and "Epic has Changed" threads...

Jim

Yes, I remember now.

afterthought: Also just was wondering if the DSMC section of the forum will still be up after November?

quick, make friends with a red owner!

I apologize for re-asking about if scarlet owners would have first dibs (missed a page when you already answered it Jim).

Jim, :help: Please please make a LOT of Scarlets. I cannot afford a Red One yet :turned: but I am a believer. I hope to score a Red One as soon as possible but it looks like I will be a Scarlet owner before I am a Red One owner. Thank You!

The wait for Scarlet will not be long. We plan to make MANY of them. Don't worry.

Jim

I would not be too worried about this. Scarlett will not be the long Que
Red was, since the Red Team is a pretty smart group of folks and Jim has said previously that production of Scarlett will be in much greater numbers(parapharasing, of course) and I am sure initial limits to quantities purchased will be in place again as well .

yeah, that should confirm it for a lot of us that Scarlet wont be this sudden market changing 35mm sensor of a little beast.

I will also eventually look to own a RED ONE as well. Jim is placing a lot of promise into the camera and it just seems like the right thing to do.

The only complaints Scarlet owners will have... "why can't we get Epic specs for 1/10th the price?". :-)

Jim

Wow! Thank you for sending out this little bit of news today, Jim. You've just made my birthday that much more exciting!!!

Ken

If all is true Jim Ill even Buy a few Scarlet's

(yes hell is cold)

Same here Wood. I think the SCARLET is going to be the start on a whole new generation of filmmaking. Especially within the industry from various people who haven't been able to afford to get their feet wet before.

Imagine the SHOT ON RED list that will be in film festivals in 2010 if we get our indy hands on Scarlets.
