I saw a threat where a list was made of lenses that communicate with Epic. Can't find it anymore. I bought Canon Cn-e primes. Don't know if Epic recognizes it.

Thanks

Dolph,

I have the CNE primes and the Epic can recognise the lenses at least in terms of knowing the focal length but the lenses focus distances are not reported. Not sure if the CN lenses have focus distance encoders? On the new build the camera asked if I wanted to profile the lenses first time they were mounted. Unsure what that was about?

Dolph,

I own a set and are very happy with them. The focal length range is al little limited but they offer the best value for a cinema style lens out there.

I have two of the CNE Canon lenses and use them both regulary with my Epic.
Compared to the CP.2 lenses that have no read out at all and are in the same price class,
I am really pleased that the CNE lenses read out F/stop (unfortunately not in T stop) and display the focal distance as well the focal length.
Not sure what the other guys are talking about. See Screen shot.
I am confirming this for the 50mm and the 24mm lens.

Cheers. ///

James,

I have never seen the focus read out from my CNE primes ! Did you do anything specific to make this happen or is there a setting on the camera that needs to be enabled? Thankyou

I have the cn-es and like James I get aperture, focal length and focus distance metadata from all of them. I'm on the latest build of the epic firmware and the lenses are pretty new, but I've done nothing special to make this happen.

I had mine for over a year, and the read out was there by default from day one even on older firm wear builds.

I just worked with a set of these lenses a week or so ago and I was very impressed with the build quality and overall IQ. We had a 14mm on a MOVI, 50mm and 35mm for some shots, but the best of the lot for me was the 135mm; what a beast.
