This is a strange one - The RED Drive works like a dream on the RED One Camera - records everything without a hitch.

When I mount the Drive to the G5, the Drive is immediately recognized. (Tried USB, Firewire 400 and 800 and no problems recognizing all three). It is only when I begin copying clips to the MAC HD/RAID that there are problems.

The RED Drive unmounts automatically after a few clips are copied.
The only way to get mount the drive is to unplug the power cable and replug again.

Is anyone facing similar issues?

Yes, Using the AC adaptor. I have to keep unplugging and plugging back the adaptor to get the drive mounted.

Is there a way to transfer files from the RED Drive when it is powered and attached to the RED Camera?

Is it possible to try this with another system, even a PC if you will. Eliminating the G5 as the cause will help you isolate the issue

Well Sandeep, I tried connecting the RED Drive to my PC - it recognizes it as a drive, but refuses to show any files. Perhaps needs a specific programme to recognize and read the drive? I presume the RED Camera formats the RED Drive in FAT32.

I also tried connecting the Drive to a Macbook Pro. The problem persists!

Have you downloaded Redcine for your PC? If not give it a try..

I tried offloading a drive on a shoot this week to a Mac Book Pro, wouldn't mount. With power to everything, and without (using FW800)

Plugged another drive in (one of the clients own), it mounted immediately.

I can't get my drives to mount in less than two minutes, and sometimes they don't mount on Mac Books And Mac Book Pros at all, although they always mount, eventually, on my imac.

We did repeat tests, and there seems to be a big difference between my two drives, and two other drives we had available?

same issue on pc

Yes, I ran into it yesterday for the first time, using a pc. Red drive was recognized quite fine, but was unplugging half-way (not that full : 20% of the storing space being left on it). Happened several times. Slept on it, and worked fine the next day... touchy things, at times...

It's been a nightmare! We are in the middle of the first Bollywood movie in New Zealand. The CF cards were fantastic. The RED Drive was used for recording a good chunk of the movie. I've spent hours transferring the clips to our Raid.
