I've been making my color corrections in RED Cine X Pro, but currently Premiere Pro doesn't recognize the new Dragon color science as far as I can tell. I have the most recent updates for both Premiere and Red Cine X.

- Am I missing something that would enable the two programs to talk to eachother?

- Is the proper update from Adobe yet to come?

- Do I have to export new files out of Red Cine X w/ my color adjustments, and then relink in Premiere?

Thanks for any info

Correct. I have spoke with Al from Adobe. The new DRAGONcolor and REDgamma4 support should be available in the next Adobe CC update next month (likely about 30 days).

The new color SDK was given to 3rd party developers right before NAB last week. It's going to take everybody a moment to integrate it and make sure it's working correctly.

I believe this should include support for Dragon Monochrome as well if I'm not mistaken.

Faster the better in my opinion :)

Phil do you know if the ADD option will be in Premiere as well as the new color?

Don't know about ADD for sure.

Might be something that's possible to enable on export through Adobe Media Encoder though. Currently Advanced Dragon Debayer and all of the Post:Look:Effects are not supported in Adobe CC applications as they are CPU intensive. Though Post:Look:Effects seem to have received real performance gains with GPU acceleration. I would expect that to come at some time.

I'll know when I see the next beta.

i didn't think post:look:effects were in the sdk...
would be nice to have add in the mix, maybe automatically with 'maximum quality' option if nothing else

I can see it implemented in the plugin, so you can preview it in the Source Settings and it would be available on export if enabled (checked on).

I mean, that's what I would do if I was programming it :)

Is Adobe CS6 getting left behind with this update? I only have RG2 and RC2 available in source settings...

EDIT: I found the link for RG3 and RC3 downloading now but what about RG4 and CS6?

I'm not a 100% sure if they will be updating the CS6 importer. I do know that when GPU support comes through for Adobe CC they won't be updating the CS6 line. Adobe CC is the "new version" and where software development and technology enhancements get deployed. CS6 has been left behind some time ago IMO. It's been this way since June 2013. I wouldn't expect many updates coming to CS6 in the future overall.

In terms of ADD, it's a process done to a series of frames. It's not an adjustment of metadata.

In other words, (I think) ADD is something Red does utilizing the data that comes out "on the other side of the SDK", rather than "part of the SDK". Can Adobe create a similar process? Well, sure; Photoshop already has a few ways to composite multiple images together for purposes of HDR, panoramic, and more. But I don't expect to see a "Turn on ADD" checkbox in 3rd party software any time soon.

well I still wish

One question I have is does using DragonColor on MX or M footage make a difference? Does it help or hurt? I've tried it out and most of the time it's a similar result to RC3.

In the announcement thread, I got a direct answer from the source: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread...d-REDgamma-4&p=1350982&viewfull=1#post1350982

DC works just fine on original RED One M, MX and Epic MX footage. There's no reason why you wouldn't shouldn't use DC, even though it's specifically tuned for Dragon. I still like RC3 on M and MX footage, but it's not like I'm going to come round your house and force you to use RC3 if you like DC better on your footage. My preference though is RG4 for everything.

CS6 is EOL and I can pretty much promise they won't support Dragon. Also Adobe CC has been crashed out 4 days now and is hurting productions world wide, things aren't looking good for Adobe users. For the record the cloud is just a money grabber for Adobe and provides users with nothing but head aches! The news has been suppressed for as long as they can get away with, the FB page dedicated to stopping the cloud is one of the only places besides the below links reporting this

Premiere CC crashed on us at least 2x daily over the past month.

Adobe has issues to resolve for sure...

Hardly a Money grab...do the math, the Cloud costs are pretty much in line with our average spending on purchases w/ Adobe. The future is subscriptions...time to accept that.

As far as the news being "suppressed"... the news is fairly well know by anyone...are you suggesting Adobe has the power to kill this news?

Not to re-hash the whole pricing argument yet again, but the pricing of CC is on par with individual licenses from before. As a mixed shop with plenty of Macs and PC's It's double what what we were paying through Adobe's Volume Licensing program. Their solution of VLS customers has been to try and sell us CC For Teams, which most of us don't really want or need as Teams costs more and it's all extra cloud features. Totally ignores what many of us had with VLS before and why we chose to purchase that way. In short, Adobe just gave us all the finger and as a result many of us now have far fewer active seats of CC than we did with CS5 or CS6, even though we're still spending the same money. So yeah, not happy campers here. And with the various outages and constant need for the software to do its monthly check-in, those who work in the field for any length of time are kinda screwed. They assured us this would not be a problem and yet it is a problem and they don't have a solution.

I won't dispute that subscriptions are the future, but Adobe needs a better model. Pay to play is not user-friendly and the industry successfully left that behind in the late '90s. Now we have come full circle and it's back with a vengeance. We'll see how long it lasts, it's only been a year. I don't know anyone who is happier with the CC system and aside from the first few months after launch, all the promises of more frequent and substantial updates have fell short.

+1 with Jeff, I don't want to derail this thread. I just wanted to mention there has been issues lately and people are freaking out (people being those who got CC, I am not a CC user because of all the aforementioned issues). Even if subscription is the future, FCPX, Avid, and Resolve are great for now... When that future comes I guess I will have to bridge it, but to be honest I just use Redcine for most of my jobs anyway and I am fairly sure Red will hopefully never embrace this model...

I don't think CS6 will ever get Dragon support, you can call and ask but I'm certain they will confirm this. So either get with CC, or don't but Dragon will def need it...

(calling them now just to check and confirm for CS6, even their music is buggy and glitching on hold LOL)

update

no options when i called it went straight into songs that glitch out and has been going for 17 minutes now straight. at this point i am determined to let the call keep going just to show how awful the cloud is (and their support of it). i have it on speakerphone and plugged in, most of my bars are full on the phone but their songs still glitch a lot, not sure what thats about but its ruining the tunes man! anyway I'm just gonna leave this going and report back how long it takes for a person to answer, IF EVER...

update x2

i fear i may have greatly overestimated my endurance for the glitchy songs. I have been on hold for 46 minutes without a person or robot, no options, nothing but mindless music! i am going to try to hold out just to ask about CS6 but i'm slowly losing the will to continue this test of endurance...

update x3

i have given up and hung up after 53 minutes of horrible jazz music. if this is the future then count me out guys lmfao
